The game itself is 'free to play' but basically runs off a lot of micro-transactions (e.g you spend real money on tanks, EXP boosts and special ammunition).

  Disclosure: I play this game a lot, and I like it.

  You can do well at this game without spending money. If you consider that most games are 20 plus dollars to purchase its not that bad.
  The micro transactions spoken of relate to ammo and consumables such as repair kits etc.
  It can be addictive and you have to be careful, but if you take a basic approach it is a bit of fun and dont get sucked in.
  Its not a straight shooter and takes a bit of thought to get in the right positions on the map and use some tactics to do well..
