    $119.20 (RRP $329.99)

    Normal price is $149

    This is a $30 saving, and not a $211 saving…

    • -2

Since when does RRP mean normal price?

      • +23

It doesn't, I never said it did, but the title above is MISLEADING about the saving.

It is a saving of $30 on the normal price for this product.

      • +1

Since it became a marketing trick to deceives people into thinking they are saving more money than the regular price. RRP is not always the regular price sadly.

        • +1

Listing the RRP is an insidious practice on this website because it works regardless of whether you know it's true purpose or not and it happens subconsciously - you cannot determine whether your purchasing decision was effected by seeing the RRP number or not.

Allowing the RRP to be listed is essentially doing a disservice to the sites users by this retailer planned manipulation to occur.

        • For many things RRP is fair, and lots of sales are off RRP only. But other times it's pointless like you say, it's from the Harris Scarf school of thought on how to present "savings" by comparing it to the "RRP".

      • Hint: Invicta timepieces aggressive pricing tactics.

    • +2

Why negged? This is useful info for people looking to get a good deal.

      • +3

        This is useful info

        I thought so too…

If it was really $211, I'd probably buy one even though I don't need a new electric toothbrush. But only a $30 saving, I can wait until next year.

        • +3

Have no need or want for a new toothbrush but id have to buy one on principle if it was that good a deal ;)

  • +1

Was thinking about getting this deal, but ended up getting the cheaper 3000 model with 6 extra heads for ~$100. Didn't need the carry case or timer, and some reviews didn't rate the extra cleaning modes.

    • +1

I hope you got the 3000 package with the extra handle.
I saw MYER have it for $120, then include the $20 off code.
      Net should be $100 pickup

      • Actually, no. Didn't know about the Myer $20 off? Would've been great included value, though don't really need the extra handle.

      • Where is that code?

        • I think it was
          Anniversary20

I google searched MYER and ozbargain.
          Came up

        • @Sjfilly: Yep, still works. Can't believe it doesn't show up on a "Myer" search of Ozbargain until page 14. Thought all active deals show up at the top.

Alright, it may me a little off topic, but what would be the best everyday electric shaver available on The Shaver Shop's eBay store?

  • That travel case, shudders… At almost 1/4 kg and poor airflow I wouldn't take it if it was free.

  • +3

Bought one a while back. Pretty decent. Battery does seem to take awhile to charge. I leave it plugged in constantly.

Not sure if it is worth over $100 though now I've been using it for awhile.

  • +1

Any comparisons between this and the Xiaomi electric tooth brush?

    • +2

this one has an oscillating head whilst the xiami is just vibrating. Personally I feel like oscillating cleans better but its preference, a few pubmed articles supported this though.

      • this has got me interested. do you mind linking the articles?

      • +1

i had an ultrasonic tooth brush , didn’t clean as well as the oscillating ones.
untrasonics work by passing energy through a liquid and it’s hard to have a full mouth of water and brush at the same time.

that is why the ultrasonic cleaner the dentist uses squirts water .

the energy causes cavitation in the water and little bubbles pop and that is the cleaning action.

        • +1

Sorry to differ here. I have both and I think sonic ones makes teeth cleaner.
Reason can be that I use sensitive brushes on oscillating ones, but sonic one definitely cleans better.

        • @Gaggy: Seems to me just at a theoretic level this would be the case. Was a bit surprised to hear the initial/contrary opinion…
Can one imagine the sonic type can remove plaque? Can't imagine the oscillating type could at all.

Almost bought this… But then I read I'll get Bluetooth… Won't suit my face… Kind of like negative of Avatar…

  • +1

Serious question - cost wise, are these really six times better than the Oral-B leccy brushes you can sometimes pick up at Coles or Woolies for around $20?

    • +1

my girlfriend has a $50 (3000) one and I have the triumph (7000), besides the useless features on mine (bluetooth) it does oscillate significantly faster and have a slight back and forth movement when brushing, which I feel cleans better. It also has a better battery.

      https://www.animated-teeth.com/electric_toothbrushes/oral-b-…

This website supposedly shows which one has the best internals with the least money after you take away the pointless features. (Seems to be the 3000) The strange thing however is that there is definitely a speed difference between ours even though the website suggest they are the same.

      • Where did u get the 3000 for $50?

        • I believe it was around $80 at COTD and I had a few coupons and store credits stacked

        • @ohhidayo:

          Nice one! Huge bargain.

I've been waiting for the $79 COTD deal for quite a while now. I might just pick up the 3000 with extra handle for $99 from Myer

        • @G Wok: Yeah try using their anniversary coupons could bring it down further :)

        • @ohhidayo:

Yep it's $99 with anniversary20 code =) no cash rewards though

        • @G Wok: honestly still a great price, if you share it with someone else you won't need two ;) I feel like I wasted money getting 3 HAHA

        • @ohhidayo:

Lol yeah I can leave 1 handle at my gfs place.

          Are 3rd party chargers expensive?

How much better is the 7000s battery?

        • @G Wok: I'd say the 7000 can last up to 10 days without charge, used every night (I've had it for a while and nowadays it usually is charged every 6 days). The 3000 probably last 4-7 days (but is newer and is used less depending on when my girlfriend stays over)

        • @ohhidayo:

Cool that's a decent difference. I just pulled the trigger on the 3000 for $99 from Myer for the 2 handles.

Do you still just use the 1 charger?

        • @G Wok: Yep we just ended up using my one. It last long enough that we never need both at the same time charging.

    • cost wise, are these really six times better

You're talking about waggling a tiny brush slightly differently so no.

The marketing is lies, waggling a brush a little differently doesn't make it clean better.

    • $20 ones are basic. Get the half decent, which are normally $100 (3000 or something) and many times on sale ($50).

      • If anyone interested, i've been waiting about 6mo after friend raved abt it, the 3000 has def not been $50 since the last $79 COTD deal for 2 handles

Next closest was chem warehouse $99 which I left to wait for COTD and now Myer

        • I have seen them couple of weeks ago at woolies if my memory serves me. They normally have 50% off on Braun products. Before that it was couple of months ago.

Thanks for the tip re: 'Prezzy' code and Shaver Shop.

I ended up getting the Pro 1000 for $63.99 (normally $79.95) after reading this review

    https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-electric-toothbrush/

Not a huge saving but apparently that brush does the same job without the bells and whistles.

Can anyone recommend a good source of cheap replacement heads? And are generics just as good as official Oral B heads?

    • Are there any significant differences between the Pro 1000 and Pro 700 (prefer black)? Can't seem to find any reviews based on these two models.

      • +1

Don't know sorry. I just went looking for a review endorsing the most basic decent model. I'm moving from a sonicare, but mainly because the heads are so expensive.

        • how often are you supposed to change the heads?

    • +1

thanks to your comment, i ended up buying this too and after a bit of research i found these heads cheap:

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CROSS-ACTION-Oral-B-Compatible-E…

  • Does anyone know what to do when the batteries on these go bad? If I don't have my handle in the charging unit, by the time I next brush my teeth it will go from 4 bars (full battery) to off after brushing for 30 seconds… These things have terrible batteries.

    • +1

That's why they want you to have it on charge all the time, means energy waste since it's plugged in 24/7, plus you have to carry the base with you, stupid, but yeah. You can't change batteries since they are built in, but… you can change them which will require a bit of electronics knowledge. You'd have to buy a battery, then disassemble the handle, do a bit of soldering, put it back and that's it. :)

I don't like how they advertise the speed of it since the only way you will get that speed is if it is full all the time. A few uses later and it is quite slower, thus making you to have it on charge all the time.

  • I bought a similar oral B with the bluetooth, remote display, travel case, different modes etc etc and can categorically say that these add no real value whatsoever. Sure, it was 65% off RRP and only $20 more that the model without, but it was a waste of $20.

IIRC the motor specs (oscillations etc) on the cheaper models are the same so I guess they're identical were it counts.

  • Costco sells pack of two for $199 @ Docklands . I cannot recall the model number though, most likely this or the higher version.

  • Have one for 1.5 years.
I don't use bluetooth (the red LED on the toothbrush flashes if brushing too hard and that's all you need.)

The travel case is nice and you may store up to two brush heads however don't expect the batteries to last.
on average for 2 persons i realised the motor slows down on the 4th day. On the 9-10th day the batteries almost depleted completely.
