    If you are simply looking for a great photo of the Moon, why not simply find the photo you like online and buy it from the photographer? It will be a lot cheaper than buying all this gear to get one photo.

    Those really detailed pictures of the moon are taken through connecting cameras to full-on telescopes.

    What do you want it for? You could do a search for "royalty free moon picture". I got quite a few results. Otherwise I have managed to fill the frame with the moon using the superzoom on a prosumer camera, but I didn't have a tripod.
