Better off starting a forum on this topic…not a deal.

    • My bad. New to this.

How can I delete this and post it to the forum section?

      • I believe a moderator can delete the post for you.

  • Pretty sure you can get a better prebuilt from a reputable store like PCCG, MSY, PLE, mWave etc. for the same or lesser price.

  • You can do cheaper/better

  • this is 6th processor, it's time to 8th processor now. Definitely not worth it

  • OK guys, thanks for your input.

I have an older HP Envy PC i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHZ, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT640.

Still in perfect order and does the job.

Mainly use it for Photoshop and Lightroom and no gaming at all.

What sort of builds would you suggest for those needs.

    Thanks

  • Merged from PC build for Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom

    Hello,

    I have an older HP Envy h8-1425a PC i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHZ, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT640.

Still in perfect order and does the job.

Mainly use it for Photoshop and Lightroom and no gaming at all.

What sort of builds would you suggest for these needs if I decide to upgrade.

    Thanks

Still in perfect order and does the job.

      Then don't upgrade…

You'll get the best bang for the buck if you upgrade when you actually need to.

      • Thanks, that's a fair point

  • But, it is Alienware.

     Cheapest search from Staticice
     Geforce GTX 1080 = $699
     DDR4 32GB = $249
     512GB SSD = $162
     4TB HDD = $155
     i7-6850K = $639
     X99 Motherboard = $360
     CPU Liquid Cooler = $59
     850W Modular Power Supply = $124
     Windows 10 Home = $110
     Total = $2,557

Plus, you need a case. Where can you buy a nice case like the Alienware Area 51 R2?

    • Its decent then, since you'll get alienware support which i expect to be slightly better than standard dell support, and much better than the no support youll get buying individual.

      • eh, its shipped from malaysia with limited 1yr warranty, wouldnt get your hopes up (not that id even consider it)

        • I didn’t actually look that deep into the link. That does change things; a lot.

  • I would suggest you steer away from Dell. They wont honour a warranty claim.
