100 Casual Visits for One OR 50 Casual Visits Each for Two to Fitness First for $649.99 @ Costco (Membership Required)

90

For those who aren't a fan of the lock in contracts most gyms make you sign up to, and/or you only plan on going to the gym approximately twice a week, Costco has a good offer on access to Fitness First.

You can now buy 100 casual visits for one person to use within 1 year OR 50 casual visits for 2 people each to use within 6 months for $649.99, which equals to $6.50 per visit, with no extra fees.

In comparison, the cheapest 12 month contract at Fitness First is $780 plus a $50 joining fee. (This option may still be better for gym junkies).

This offer is available at all Costco stores except Brisbane, Adelaide and Marsden Park. (Sounds like Costco may be clearing them out).

  • Any idea which Fitness First gyms this pass would give access to?

    • I'm assuming it's only the Passport (Standard) Gyms. I would be very surprised if they are valid for Platinum gyms.

Derrimuts Gym is offering $297 upfront for 12 months, unlimited classes and no lock in. Even casual visits are $5 each no contract.

Great price, but crappy locations unless you live in Western/Northern Melbourne or near Pakenham. For example, I would have to travel 40 minutes one way to get to my nearest one. I hope they open more gyms.

and you might come back with a few gun related injuries

        • Say what you want about the area(s) Ravenhall (Caroline springs) Derrimut is probably one of the best value for money gyms in the country

But gyms are only worth there cost if you actually use them so distance is probably the biggest deciding factor for most people

Been going Derrimut for 4 years spend a total of about 1k in membership fee (by taking advantage of sales) that would struggle to get 12 months at fitness first i reckon for pretty much the same product.

        • I always get complimented for my guns while at the gym.

    That's a lot of money

    • My thoughts exactly. After going to the gym a few times you will either
      (a) Not be motivated to go to the gym and waste most of them
      (b) Be dreading how many times you have to go and at the 100th announce you will never go again
      (c) Use these up rather fast and wish you had got a contract instead.

I think the 50 for 2 people might be an alright deal even if it's only for 6 months but casual gym people don't go to the gym 100 times in a year.
You have to even be motivated with the 50 for 2 people because you have to go together 50 times in 6 months or approximately twice a week.

Biggest rip off of a gym

Or go to a gym where people actually lift and don't just want a justification to put on their Laura Jane outfits and wear to the supermarket afterwards.

    • I was thinking about this not long ago. It seems fitness/yoga clothes are normal attire these days

      • …and loving it.
