[Android] Acrobits Groundwire Sip Client - $5.99 (50% off)

40

Half price on Android and iOS for their 9th Birthday.
This is a lifetime licence that includes push notifications.
Good value if this is something you need as a similar app has recently added push notifications as a subscription service for $0.99/month.

Sale appears to have ended in itunes but still half price in Google Play

Apple AppStore still shows $14.99 (AU) but description says 50% off…

This app seems similar (screenshots) and free - Cloud Softphone by Alien Licensing GmbH

    • Cloud softphone is usually free to use but configured and locked to the provider that pays for it.

Can you configure this free version yourself?

    • It was $7.99 but now shows as $14.99 in the Apple Appstore so looks like the sale is over for iOS.
Still showing as $5.99 in Google Play instead of $11.99.

  • Also, in-app purchases:
    * G.729 Annex A Codec $7.99
    * ZRTP For Outgoing Calls $17.99

    • The G.729 codec is also half price but the G.729 patent has expired.

Is this much better than Zoiper?

    • +1

      Zoiper doesn't have push notifications.
If you want push notifications then their feature packed Groundwire or cheaper Acrobits Softphone is better.

      • I don't really understand what is so good about push and why you want them…
In description it says push improves battery life… But how?

        • +1

Apple thinks it does so on iOS you don't have much choice on recent versions of iOS.
VoIP apps are no longer allowed to run in the background so you can't receive calls without the app open or push notifications enabled.
I didn't notice much difference to battery life on Android but it frees up memory until it's needed.
