Online exclusive offer valid from 7pm AEDT 14th November until 7pm AEDT 15th November 2017.

If you were planning on buying the Deluxe Audio Strap anyway, this deal would make the Vive the cheapest it's ever been.

I have both the Vive and Oculus and I definitely recommend the Vive.

  • The Vive has been $899.10 in the past, what is the bargain here?
Fallout 4 is included with all HTC Vives, it isn't part of the offer.

The Deluxe Audio Strap is worth $169
Plus the limited edition protective cases, I guess.

edit: edited the title to make that more obvious

have both the Vive and Oculus and I definitely recommend the Vive.

That's odd, most people who have both say the Rift is better.

I liked the Oculus design better, but Vive has compensated with the deluxe audio strap (it's a shame it doesn't come with it free all the time). The Oculus tracking is terrible compared to the Vive. Oculus really is a "seated experience".

Vive is better by far. I have all these devices and the Rift is the worst.

Id put Vive/Hololens first followed by PSVR then the Rift.

I don't know a single person who has both that believes the Rift is better.

I would wait and see what Pimax is like when it comes out. The hardware differences is like a playstation 2 compared to a playstation 4.

I have one coming in January, 8k resolution and twice the field of view (screen size)

    • The problem is that there's always more waiting that can be done. One issue with the 8K Pimax will be price, availability and the hardware required to support it. Doing that resolution at 90hz isn't going to be a walk in the park, anyone looking to run it will need to drop a couple of grand on hardware as well on top of the pimax.

The Vive + a $400 GPU will give anyone a pretty good experience though.

      • Actually you can run the pimax at the same internal resolution as the vive and it will be upscaled to 8k by the headset.

The benefits of that are no screen door effect which is 95% of the issue with VR headsets today.

So that means you can use a pimax with a $400 GPU.

The Pimax also has plenty of other benefits like no godrays, I really hate the godrays on my vive.

And of course the field of view on the Pimax is a real eye-opener (pun intended). Seriously, going from 'I'm wearing goggles' to almost a full field of view is extremely impressive and makes the virtual world seem less of 'window' and more of an actual environment.

Price wise, I suspect it will come in around the same price as a Vive and you can use the Vive controllers and base stations with it if you already have that hardware.

I suspect we will see similar wide-field vr devices from both Oculus and HTC / Vive in the next year to 18 months if the Pimax is a significant success. It really is a generational leap over the current Vive and Oculus.

        • @Rayve:

Yup, I ordered just the headset and will be using it with my vive. Cheap upgrade.

        • @Rayve:

          'I'm wearing goggles'

That's what the Oculus feels like to me after using the Vive.

  • I bought two vives for work recently never received the codes. I don't think I got them last time either. Do they normally email them out ?

    • I had pre-ordered and it was emailed IIRC.

Did you buy the business editions?

      • No just the consumer versions.

        • weird. I'd just contact HTC and I'm sure they'll send them out.

@LlamaLlamaLamp: Yeah they were helpful all sorted
