Stove Rangehood - Advice (Need a New One)

Hi,

Like everything else in my apartment, my rangehood needs replacing.

Just wondering if anyone had any opinions on what I should buy / what price i should be spending?

It's in an apartment, and I don't actually think it's attached to a vent that goes outside or anything.

Just checking out HN online and I'd not know the difference between a $100, $150, $200 or $400 one!

  • How modern do you want it?
I have just done some renos to a 20yo unit, including replacing the rangehood.
The basic Westinghouse 60cm rangehood (WRJ600UW $129 @ GGs) was fine for the space that was there already.
A more modern slide in/out one would have meant modification of the overhead cupboard.

    • the one i had was a slide in/slide out. it was only 4-5 yrs old but apparently not worth fixing. ended up getting a basic westinghouse slide one

  • as long as you can get carbon filters for it that would be a plus

    • uhuh. i always wondered what the point of rangehoods that weren't ducted externally esp in apartments. never really knew about carbon filters. thanks

  • There are a few types of rangehoods - you need to check which type of rangehood you have and perhaps buy something similar.

I bought mine from HN - Smeg - I've been really happy with it (even though my cooktop and oven is miele) haha

    • yeh that's what i ended up doing. plus my dimensions limited my options which made life easier

  • I'm in the final stages of doing a diy kitchen reno. Being thrifty I decided to forgo replacing a perfectly good, but cream, rangehood and respray it myself.
