Can any kind ozbargainers able to point out to me any reputable and reliable VPN that I can use whilst I am in China
I have no interests in downstream any movies or any hi tech stuffs other than to gain access to my Gmail messages and WhatsApp account when I am in China
Any kind souls willing to offer some advices .

Used to use Astrill when I lived there 2 years ago, not sure if it's still going. It had mixed reviews, the customer service was pretty bad, but it seemed to work about 80% of the time for me, so I stuck with it. I only went with them because most of the other expats, as well as the international schools my kids went to and the international medical clinic we went to also used Astrill. If you think our speeds are bad here, you should wait till you get there.

If you want guaranteed uncensored free (as in freedom) Internet access in China I suggest leaving your PC on in Australia while you are over there, and logging in using Remote Desktop.

It's free and a good backup just in case your chosen VPN provider becomes blocked while you're over there.
If you're using a friend's connection in China and they might get worried about attracting police attention over their connection being used to access a known VPN, using remote desktop to your Australian IP is a very safe alternative.

Private Internet Access PIA have used in it China for a few years with no issues whatsoever.
