GearBest - Returned Item Not Received

I recently bought a Xiaomi 4K Drone from Gearbest, which I have returned due to a faulty gimbal. After a lengthy discussion, they have agreed to pay return shipping costs. I sent the drone off via AusPost (req signature) 2 weeks ago now on the 3rd of November, and it was delivered a week later on the 10th. I then notified Gearbest via my ticket, which they had requested me to do. I got a reply.

"We have not received the package. Please check the package status on the internet then please contact us after 7-10 days since it is delivered. Please note we need to process the package returned for almost 7-10 days. Once we receive the item, we can process for you accordingly."

Ok sure I thought. Maybe it's just sitting in a pile somewhere that they haven't got to yet. But to tell me to check the delivery status again? Really? I then try to explain to them multiple times that the tracking says "Delivered", providing them the link. They only understand when I attach a screenshot and circle the "Delivered" in red. That was earlier this week. I called AusPost, and they told me the package has definitely been delivered. They confirmed my theory that it is perhaps sitting in a pile. Meanwhile Gearbest tells me to wait 3-7 working days.

Today is 3 working days after. After contacting Gearbest again, I get a reply.

We wish to take this opportunity to apologize for any inconvenience that has been caused. I just check again the returned parcel, we haven't received in our warehouse, please wait a little more. Please kindly note that this is the selling season. Therefore we may cause the delay and I hope you could understand. We kindly ask that you could wait 5-7 working days.

This seems rather ridiculous. The parcel required a signature, so surely someone signed for it and can confirm its receipt. Has anyone had similar experiences with Gearbest - or even any other international sellers? I am considering filing a PayPal dispute soon.

Why wouldn't you just wait the full 7 days? I'm sure they get thousands of parcels returned everyday.

Seems dodgy that's why. First off they couldn't even acknowledge the delivery status. Now they keep asking me to wait more and more days. For all I know they've already got it and are scamming me.

It's not dodgy. We used to service a well known laptop brand starting with the letter a and ends with s. Their service centre was/is shocking with return laptop boxes all over the place. Their receving sometimes lose stock for weeks only to find it again under a pile of other returns.

She's pretty big inside. Let's hope it didn't hit those fans!!

      • Wow that looks awesome!! I love how he got excited when he picked up the Windows phone.

  • I've returned some faulty items with Fasttech, they pretty much confirmed they received the item the day it was delivered and sent out the replacements on the same day.

The one they gave me was:
Room 302, 3rd Floor, Building 8, Zhongxing Industrial Zone, Chuangye Road, Nanshan District,
      Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, 518054, China

Do they give you a phone number? Otherwise it's a higher chance that send to a wrong address due to wrong translate from pinyin to Chinese character.

        • Yes I got a phone number, and put that on the package.

  • Similar story. Got two Vorke V2+ from Geekbuying. One of them was DOA. They asked to send that back but the procedure was rejected by the EMS to declare $30 value. Contacted the manufacturer directly, turns out the RAM was faulty. Opened a dispute for the busted RAM for US$75 out of US$449. Waiting for a resolution now. Wasted 3 months reading canned replies from after sale support of Geekbuying. Should have done that earlier.

Or just message me so a resolution can be found.

  • Xiaomi 4K Drone from Gearbest,

It's a shame that gb have the best price on this particular item.

  • Gearbest did this to me. They try tactics to get you to drop your claim. It has been delivered. I would just lodge a paypal dispute. Even then they will try to have you withdraw it, telling you they cannot process your refund while it is active. Do not listen to them. You have done enough, you are not responsible for them losing stuff. Lodge a dispute and don't withdraw it, just wait for a refund.
