Generic Nvidia/AMD Graphics Cards- Your Experiences? Fake or Legit?

I've noticed on ebay a large amount of Generic graphics cards.
Examples are in the following links….

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT730-4GB-GDDR5-1…

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NVIDIA-GTX-750-Ti-1GB-DDR5-VGA-D…

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ATI-Radeon-HD-7670-2GB-DDR5-128B…

In doing some research online, people often bag them out. I am keen to hear if someone has tried them.
So 2 questions,

  1. Have you tried a generic brand graphics card? Do they perform close to the standard of a branded card?
  2. If the cards do not perform as expected, do they still perform good for the price. IE would a $50 fake 750 outperform a GT 710 (which are $54 shipped from umart)

Interested to hear your observations.

They are either graphics cards that are actually counterfeit tampered with e.g the BIOS has been flashed and the device's identity has been spoofed so that inserting the GPU in the system causes it to report it as a "750 Ti" when it may actually be something much inferior

OR they could be other chinese brands like "Yeston" or "COLORFUL" which are actually fringe OEM brands in China.

AMD and Nvidia only partner with a select list of AIB's (Authorised board partners) so it's not as if any old company can get hold of their GPU dies and stick it into their boards without first signing a contract with AMD / Nvidia.

    • Yea, most cheap ones are fake. Most of the real ones comes with the original box while fake ones arrive in a bag.

The ones he listed above all seem to be fake

  • I would stay away from any cheap generic gpu's however branded ones like yeston, colorful, etc are legit and actually perform just as good as popular local brands. The resale value is also probably slightly reduced.
