Packing boxes/crates for moving/storing books, clothes, electronics

I'm looking at tidying up a room, moving and storing clothing, books and old electronics for the time being and wondered what other people use and/or suppliers.

Cardboard boxes, plastic storage containers … ?

Thanks for your thoughts on this :)

Definitely plastic! Moisture is a killer when it comes to storage, and you can tape them shut to keep out the bugs too! Chuck in some dessicant and/or cedar/moth balls & Robert's your father's brother! ;)

I usually just get them from whoever's cheapest at the time, Coles/Woolies etc, but if Supercheap Auto has the really strong big black ones on sale then those are worth looking at if some of your gear is sharp or heavy! Mine have survived several moves & use as party ice tubs on occasion! :)

Cheapest option I've found (apart from donating everything to the op shop) is to head to Bunnings and raid their box section at the front of the store. Although if you are storing in a shed or whatever, mice/vermin can have a party in a cardboard box.

Best long term option: plastic storage with lids, although the cost can really add up if you have a good deal of stuff to store or move. All ours came from Target but were bought at 50% off and even then they were still pricey but if you look after them ie. don't break the lids, they will last a long time.

  • Thanks guys :)
