Etihad Guest Tier Miles Link to Flybuys Not Working: Anyone Else Affected ?

I have an Etihad Guest account (frequent flyer program) which is linked to my FlyBuys. FlyBuys is about the only local based company where you can earn Etihad Guest Tier miles. Guest Tier miles work toward your flyer status, e.g., Sivler, Gold, Platinum.
My Etihad account was not credited for Tier miles earned on Flybuys for October.
Issue reported to both Etihad and Flybuys over a week ago, both by phone and email.

Etihad underwent a system upgrade a few weeks back. My Etihad account now shows that my linked FlyBuys number is my Etihad Guest number.
I advised Etihad of that also - still no joy.

For any Etihad Guest members have you experienced any issues with linked Guest Tier earners, especially FlyBuys?
How did you resolve, or do you still have an issue.

TLDR: Etihad Guest link to FlyBuys broken. No communication from Etihad.

  • I'm experiencing the same thing, last transaction date on my Etihad account is 30 Sep. The site, while more new and flashy now compared to when I used it last, does seem to take ages to go from one screen to the next. It has to be on their side, their servers must not be up to the task :(

    • Yes, it's a lot slower and keeps asking me to update my information even though it's fully up to date.
Would you mind looking in your profile and in the bit that shows your FlyBuys linking can you check if it's your FlyBuys number in there or your Etihad Guest membership number?
      Cheers, Paul

      • Yeah I'm experiencing the same, they now send OTPs to your email and keep asking to update information… the site is broken :(
I just checked my "Profile and details" screen and yes it's my Etihad guest number there not flybuys :( So it's not just you, it's a system-wide thing! I wonder how we can get this fixed…

        • Thanks for checking.
I phoned them and suggested that this is the probable cause of the issue.
I then followed up with an email - still no reply. It's not that I do an enormous amount of travel but recently I have needed to visit family in Europe for family issues. I continued to fly with Etihad and with an upcoming trip in March 2018 I make it to Gold tier….but not without Guest Tier miles earned on FlyBuys.
If they don't care I will probably stop caring also and start to look at other airlines.
2 flights to Europe a year may not be a lot to Etihad but it's a fair bit to me.

        • @theclearout: I agree, if they can't be bothered fixing it then there's no point staying loyal as it seems they don't care.

  • Hey mate, they still haven't done any updates on their end, the number in the Flybuys section is still my Etihad Guest number…. really poor form by them!

    • Yes, I have emailed, phoned, messaged on Facebook all numerous times.
They have now taken to ignoring me and have even blocked me from posting on their Facebook page.
It is now obvious that they do not care about their customers.

      • Far out, that is absolutely pathetic treatment. Shit, sorry that you had to go through all that.
Might as well just sell all my Etihad points then, there's no reason I'll keep supporting them. You're asking legitimate questions and they've shut you off.
Are you switching to another airline for your Europe trips?

        • I'm booked with Etihad for March.
I'm flying with one of my daughters at the end of the year after her VCE so will likely look elsewhere for that one if they don't sort this out.
I haven't had a Gold status with an airline for nearly 10 years now. While it's not worth that much it would give me and my daughter lounge access at the end of the year and some priority passes, etc (which are handy in Adu Dhabi as everyone I go through a plane change there it's a zoo).

        • @theclearout: Ah, your daughter is going through Year 12 next year? Awesome, all the best to her.
Yes any way to get lounge access is amazing. I know what you mean, I flew with Etihad last year December/this year January and switching between planes was a crowded, frustrating experience with people all over the place and shocking customer service from the ground staff.
At one point Etihad seemed to be at the top of the airline rankings, our personal experiences clearly shout the opposite.
Cheers again mate and all the best
