[AMA] I'm Z and I can help you make informed decisions about cost, maintenance and depreciation

Is it cheaper to buy an electric car or a high yield investment vehicle?

Is it cheaper to buy house A or a high end apartment in Pattaya or to keep it in the bank?

Is it better to take public transport or buy a car, just to go to work.

Some decisions are easy while others are difficult to make. I've recently finished a course that will help me help you economically determine which is the cheaper option. While some purchases are irrational such as Eneloops and Horse watches, I can help you measure out how much purchases can cost you so you have a firm idea before going to any deal or sale, to the salesperson or the missus.

Right now, I'm looking to get results, some testimonials from some very happy and informed people here, and donations for my Masters degree XD so if you need help to make numbers work for you, then maybe I can help. Please PM me to discuss what you want to know.

A bit of a back story: I like maths and numbers. With these two skills and passions, I will help to calculate and help you make sure you don't get burned by overhead, depreciation and more. I may also be able to help you justify a purchase to the Missus and give you a strategic advantage when meeting the salesperson/dealer. I also have an expensive master degree to pay for, and a cat to feed. :D

Mods, pls let me know if this is unacceptable. I'm keen to offer a service that I'm proficient at, see the value it may deliver to others, and also to raise money for semester tuition.

Z

When is the best time to buy a lottery/powerball ticket and how much should one spend?

    • Ooh, ooh, I can answer this one!

      Never, $0.

      Edit: Unless you're these people:

In fact, the expected payoff was sometimes positive: When a roll-down happened, there was at least $2.30 waiting in prize money for every $2.00 ticket sold.

Note: This was literally a unique (i.e. one-of-a-kind) situation.

I suspect that Zeds advice will go down well. So well in fact that this happens.

    Zed's Dead Baby, Zed Dead.

  • When will the property market crash?

    • Irrelevant. We're all doomed.

      • I beg to differ. On a galactic scale, planets in the habitable zone with a favorable climate are exceedingly rare - if you hold onto real-estate long enough to attract extraterrestrial investors, you'd find that current prices vastly under-value land.

Imagine China's real estate investment in Australia and its effects on property value, and apply that on a galaxy scale.

  • I'd ask if the $4,000 parts and labor service on my $25,000 Audi was a good investment but I think I know the answer.

  • how long does it take to boil a 3 minute egg?

    • Long enough to hassle it from its hen.

  • Car: Buy new or used? If used, how old?

    • That's a great question. Are you talking about diesel, biofuel, economy, 95, 98 or electric and did it get into a collision with a tesla?

      • Nothing fancy like the tesla ;p, small sedan or hatchback, between civic and mazda 3. Ta.

General advice is always buy used. Depending on the make and model (i.e. reliability), some models you should only buy when it's still within the factory warranty period which differs from brand to brand.

  • How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

    • As much as wood as it needs to chuck

  • What course have you finished?

    • Supply Chain Management. From one end to another.

How many random AMA's will it take before we no longer feel AMA's bring any usefulness or entertainment?

    • Did this even resemble an AMA
