hmmm is this gonna be another crashathon with a voting system haha

• oh no! server crash

• Wii for Mii

• +7

Best deal would be COTD having more than 10 of their big ticket item in stock.

• Every deal will have a minimum of 100 units available and a maximum of 1000

lets hope they're right :)

• +2

Even at 100 units they would be gone in like 3 minutes. Let's just they have got their server gears ready…

• +1

They would be, if more than four people could view the site at a time.

• +2

100 units for whole Australia is a shame. Baiting…

• you'd think at the prices they're getting these items, you'd need to to order much more than a 100…. after this, i don't get how wholesale works anymore xD

i'm guessing they're making a loss. like that story a couple years back they only bought less than a dozen consoles and made a loss, but baited very well.

• The external hard disk seems to be winning. Am I the only one who's noticed bargain site visitors seem to be in love with external hard disks? Not that I'm complaining - anything that gives people fewer excuses not to back up is a good thing!

• +11

We all need storage for pr0n

• +1

SO is anyone buying from there anymore…looks to me like they are outta bargains..no netbooks deals in a very long time :(

• Yup, COTD = meh! ;)

• +3

"This Tuesday the 23rd, we are hosting another one of our infamous hour by hour sales events."

So they admit their sales are popular because of the consistently crashed server?

• i think they mentioned it straight forwardly a few times before lol, not in that quote though, pretty vague. it's no secret :D

• +1

the problem with COTD is eventhough they upgraded their server, but because of the attention they received from appearing in TOday Tonight, they got more traffic than before appearing in TT.

• +3

I think they upgraded the server to one of their own netbooks! :p

• The camera and haviannas (pretty sure that is spelt wrong) looks like a nice deal, I am assuming the black ops is for pc.

• nope havianas is spelt right.

• haha we are both wrong. It is havaianas =D

• just cause I missed an a. I blame the keyboard for that :P

• I wonder if the shipping cost will be increased to cover for the items at these prices?

I'm interested in the hard disk, but probably won't pay more than $50 inclusive shipping, hopefully I can access the site tomorrow!

• Only really interested in buying the logitech speaker thing… lets see what's first up!

BTW it starts at 11am, so now lol.

• First up, COD Black Ops for X360 for $29 + $4.95 shipping

Interesting thing is…

Western Australia Shipping $0.00

• Haha bummer thought I managed to get one. Got to put in credit card details and I clicked confirm order .. then "Service Unavilable" ..

• Sold out now, lasted a good 6 minutes so not too bad

• probably coz no one knows it starts at 11 lol

• If you missed out this game was actually cheaper on eBay.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Call-Duty-Black-Ops-COD-7-XBOX-360-Ga…
Though I'm not sure how an Australian seller is getting away with selling NTSC products. Seems like a trick.
Plus I wouldn't trust a seller with negative feedback, but paypal should help if there is a problem.

• Hmm .. I'd wait til the seller has some feedback first.

• wow sold in the past 2 days from a seller with no feedback….

• so what up for grabs next?

• Catch of the internal server error!

• Cant even get on the website, it feels even worse than last time :O

• I accidently closed my web browser, got back to the login screen but thats it so far.

• Samsung 20" LED HD LCD Monitor

SAMSUNG BX2050

$149 + 9.95 shipping

• shipping is 9.95 everywhere. Its still available

• lawl [service unavailable]

• the security guard is yest just another page you've got to get past before it crashes.

• +1

Cant even get the havaianas =[

Postage is ridiculous .. $6.95 to Sydney

• Is that all it is? I'm off to lunch. Betting on the best deals being on in the middle of the night.

• Sleek and Slim Wireless Mouse – White

No model number. $9.95 + $4.95 shipping.

Looks a bit like the mac mice except with a scroll wheel and clearly defined buttons on the front.

I feel like writing a virus, a DDos attack against catchoftheday. That makes the site completely unusable throughout the duration of all there crash of the day specials so their stuck with all there gear and have to rethink and find a more ethical way of conducting business.

It's both very sad, and ridiculous they give a small amount of super specials just to generate hype. It seems they've plastered their super specials onto the walls of hundreds and thousands of Facebook profiles, force everyone to register to access these deals and only allow 3to6% of these people to purchase any of the deals on offer.

If their going to do it right they should buy 20,000 of a good deal, offer it at cost price and remove the limit per customer towards the end of the deal that way they will get through them quicker if they believe they won't sell out.

• +3

COTD already get regularly DDOS'd…by customers! :p

• Perhaps you should DDoS the lottery while you're at it. Heaps of people buy tickets but hardly anyone gets any money. How is that fair?

COTD is upfront about having limited quantities in these sales. If you don't want to participate, feel free not to and you will lose nothing.

As for viral marketing, welcome to the 21st century.

• come on man…they just want get another award of being TOP CLICKS WEBSITE…probably has like 10 items per special anyway…and as long as they sold those, they dont give a crap about what others think

• +1

Samsung 12MP Digital Camera
12MP, 27mm wide angle lens, 5x zoom!

$29 + shipping.

• Goodluck in getting it I know I am trying and it keeps crashing.

• I've been trying for the last 8 minutes cannot even get past the products page, keeps on saying.

"Service Unavailable
The service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

I keep on refreshing chrome and firefox browsers and keep on getting the same message. Anyone else have any luck?

• yeh same thing here its dead and all i had left was completing the last step.

• join the club

• just refreshed it is still there but for how long and i doubt ill get through to finishing off that last step.

• yawn… *tumbleweed passed by

Service Unavailable page is quite boring…

• +1

I usually don't have a problem loading up the home page. I have not attempted to purchase anything from the site though which I guess is where the hairy issues arise from. Actually I did get to the Paypal confirmation page for the Havaianas but then saw the shipping costs and so didn't proceed haha.

• same here was like hmm ~$8 for shipping no thanks. This is how they get hitwise because every1 refreshes at the same time.

• Have gotten to the confirmation page (after submitting payment info), just pressed confirm, and now got a service unavailable … will probably get charged multiple times now, and still end up not getting the damn camera!!!

• Yep, as expected. "Sold out - Please remove it from the shopping cart to continue with checkout." :(

• looks like everyone is still trying, nearly a 20 minute lockout.

• This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. My f5 button will break soon!

• +1

I wonder if you could change the timeout time on firefox.

• type "about:config" in the address bar. I think the settings in their somewhere.

• +1

I wonder if cod has actually sold an item yet? I'm willing to continue as one of those who keep hitting refresh actually hoping for the entire hour they didn't sell any camera :P

• I doubt it it i was at the stage before the buying stage in under a min and a hlf and then lockout, kinda feels like clubbing in Sydney. =P

• I'm so close…I've clicked confirm in my cart after going through Paypal….so freakin' close!

But now just get service unavailable!

• Sold out :(

• haha, sold out booo

• lol, took me another 2 minutes to see that it had sold out. Damn…

• anyone got one?

• hmm a bit dodgy how they sell out when the server is down? If anyone can explain this to me feel free.

• The server isn't down. It's highly congested. Some people get through and those are the ones that buy the items. Think of it as a freeway down from 4 lanes to 1. People at the front slowly get through whilst at the back it feels like you never get anywhere. The difference is here you can't even feel yourself inching forward.

• If it is highly congested then wouldn't the server page slowly load, and if there are say 1000 people trying to get the one spot at a time who receives ranking in order to get through.

• It does load slowly. Hence why people are posting what the deal is. And I dare say less than half a percent of people looking at the site are on this forum, so its not much of a surprise that no one has posted here that they bought one.

And they will be served on a first come, first served basis. However, a lot of that depends on the network between you and them. Technically it's not luck of the draw, but without doing an in depth analysis of the traffic through the various nodes close to the COTD servers, it may as well be.

• Ok just went on facebook skimming through ~300 people I see one person who won the camera. Lol even then they stuffed up and charged the amount twice.

• cant even get the web page to load…

• Btw it looks as if they are rotating so the next deal will probably be one of their s*** ones.

• Really not fair is it, to not even get a little bit of a chance :(

• +1

I thought I'd have the same luck as their last promotion =[ Managed to grab 4 packs of $1 condoms last time.

• +1 for condoms

• Do you like the way the sliding bar doesnt tell you who bought stuff on these catchathons :\ makes you wonder…

• I'm sure they're well aware of the backlash that would occur if they weren't actually selling anything.

• Sennheiser MX660 14.95

stupid

• Here we go again .. another hour, another failure.

• Sennheiser MX660 Earphones – Black
Don't pay full price - today just $14.95!

• Sennheiser MX660 Earphones – Black
Don't pay full price - today just $14.95!

• Sennheiser MX660 Earphones – Black $14.95 + $5.95 shipping

• I'm guessing these suck? I'm using CX500s which I'm super happy with and these things look like an adopted cousin.

• Don't buy them they are terrible stick with the 500s.

• I half ran a zipper close with the wire sticking through, damaged the rubber slightly, luckily didn't chop it off. I could have reattached the earpiece but it would have looked pretty shocking.

• I have also found the 500 cabling to be pretty thin IMO. Have a look at the 300s aswell they virtually do the same job as the 500s. There is usually a bargain a week for them under $20.

• +1

I'll be happy if someone from OzB gets something they actually want.

• +2

Pretty certain we're all sitting here waiting to launch at the USB HDD.

….dary!

• +1

• why some people can load the page and some can't? Internet speed?

• +2

COTD likes being on Today Tonight and Current Affair.

They should do another story on their dodgy 1 day sales.
