  • Cheap for the Shaver Shop, but you can get these a LOT cheaper from the US - they're 110-240v. Just need a cheapy US => AU adaptor.

    • Any indication that it's a LOT cheaper somewhere? List is $160 and the cheapest I found was $113 - once you add shipping and an adapter, you're not saving any money.

  • How does Oral B compare with the Philips Sonicare? Are they basically the same thing or markedly different? I was thinking of getting the Sonicare FlexCare Plus.

    • I have been using my Oral B 9900 with Smart Guide for two years(Same as the link, older model with different basestation) and I freaking love it. It is the best toothbrush I have ever ownt! WOOOOT.

It's an Oral B/Braun so it's made in Germany aswell :)_.

    • I've been using this for about a year now (oral b smart care 5000 or iq5000 depends on where you shop). This is brilliant, the floss-action brushhead does give you cleaner feel after you brush.

I upgraded from the basic oral b electric toothbrush, after the battery died. And I simply thought why not go for top of the line, never look back since.

This is a pretty sweet deal, go for it :)

  • Been using a "budget" oral b toothbrush now for a about 18 months or so and have had great results.
Dentist comments on how good teeth are looking in my 6 monthly checkups!

If it saves you a filling or keeps good dental health, why not spend the $130 and grab this - it will save you in the long run.

(Although you can buy cheaper in the US at the moment as previously stated if you can be bothered)

    Cheers!

  • I picked this up when the catalogue came out about 2 weeks ago and love it. Have had a variety of different models over the years, but this is far superior!

Great buy and worth every cent ^_^

    • how is it better?

      • Was put onto electric toothbrushes by my dentist years ago. Much better clean, fewer gum problems and generally better oral health. He can see the difference in patience who use the electric ones.

        • sorry, i meant how is this particular model better than the other ones you tried.

i already have an oral b that is around 5yo…

      • @jv - No need to be sorry ;)

This is a much better unit. Moves faster/stronger motor plus a heap of other features. also comes with some fancy new heads for polish and clean and options of different modes plus the wireless remote screen etc. So overall a much better product. hope this helps!

        • thnx

  • i've never quite understood electric tooth brushes, what makes it so attractive over manual stuff?

and how much do the replacement heads go for/last for?

    • mine last for almost 3 months…

usually get 4 brushes for around $20 when on sale…

if you don't understand the value of electric toothbrushes, just ask your dentist… there is no comparison in terms of how much better they clean that manual ones…

      • thanks. i asked wiki "Braun's Oral B-series[2] [5] [6], are marginally better than manual ones"

i guess thats why dentists never mentioned it explicitly.

  • can it connect to wifi?

  • +1

I've done some searching, and it can be had on Ebay for $130 + 15 postage = $145, and is STILL eligible for the $30 cashback…. So $ 115 total.

    See: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/New-Braun-Oral-b-Triumph-5000-Electri…

If you look on the Oral b website, there's only one 5000 model in the triumph range. (the 'iq' is just added for show, but it's the same model).

    Cheers
