  • where does a7ii sits ?

    a7r = photo

    a7s = video

    a7 = ???

    • entry level full frame … slightly higher than a7

    • a7: General
      A7s: S for Sensitivity
      A7r: R for Resolution

      a7II is the second gen replacement model of the old original a7, so you would compare it to the other Mark II models, not the gen 1 models.

      • A7-II is very similar to the A7 mark I.

        Same sensor, same processor, same 1080p only video. The core is basically the same.

        The only difference is the mark II have the in body IS and the grip design have changed in the II series.

        A7R II and A7S II have much more significant changes over the mark I.

          And?

        • I'm saying the original A7 is still comparable.. it comes with a cashback as well and is 20% cheaper than the mark II

        • @Thrawn: But I believe the video is not stablised

        • -1

          @geeluv:

          It doesn't have in-body IS. Still can have lens stabilisation (or better still, a gimbal)

          Its a choice.. like Sony A6300 vs A6500. Want in-body IS.. pay more. Doesn't mean the non-IS version is no good.

          Anyway.. the both the A7 and A7 mark II don't have 4K. So if you are serious about video.. they aren't the ideal camera anyway.

        • @geeluv:

          The IBIS in A7II does stablize video.

        • @Thrawn: He asked where the a7II sits in the current line up. It does replace the original a7.

        • -1

          @Orpheus:

          It doesn't replace it as the original A7 is still part of the line-up and still available for sale. Cheaper, with slightly less feature set.

          Kind of like the RX100 series.. we're up to mark V now and the original mark I is still available for sale !!

        • -1

          @Thrawn: Only in some markets. The II is fhe replacement. It's not less features, its older features. At the time the a7 was released it had up to date features. Just as the a7II had the most up to date features, and so will the a7III that will soon replace it.

        • +1

          @Thrawn: +1 from me - I have had my A7 (original) for nearly 4 years now. Great camera once you get over the idiosyncrasies. The in-body stabilisation would be nice to have but otherwise the changes are not enough to make me want/need to retire the older A7 yet, so I wouldn't exclude the A7 from the list if you don't need the extras the A7II gives you and instead put the savings towards some glass…..

          Having said all that, cashback on the A7 is only $150 so after cashback the camera would come out to $1035 versus $1270…. meh, get the A7II. ;-)

      • he was trolling. dont take him seriously.

    • in body stablitsation is the reason i bought it.

  • They also got the A7RIII for $3185(Cashback $500 , bringing it down to $2685 .

    That's the A7RII, the III is much more.

    Nice price for the A7II :-)

    • thanks , that was a typo , if its III I would have jumped on it :P

      • same, i would bought it if it is 3185 for the Riii

  • Any sales on the A6500?

    Hey - for what it's worth, the Sonnar 55mm (SEL55F18Z - https://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/sony-sonnar-t-55mm…) is $993, less $200 cashback, coming to $793.
