Looking for some cheap flights anywhere to SE Asia, from around Christmas day to 1st week January?

Haha, good luck. Because everyone wants to travel at that time, the airlines don’t generally put sales on, as people will buy tickets regardless of the price.

      Username checks out.

    • Same in late Feb? Been monitoring for less-than-12 hour return flights to Manila and the prices have stayed high.

    From where?

  • Melbourne

  • Forget it. I got an average price over xmas. And i bought it 2 months ago!

  • As cheap as I am, I'd almost consider paying 50-100% more than usual for those Chinese airlines that go to some random freezing cold place in Europe on a 40 hour flight (each way) than pay a budget airline over $1000 to get to SE Asia. Not that I could afford to do anything once I got there but still.

  • What's your definition of cheap

  • The funny thing is budget airlines all jacked up their prices tremendously over xmas. Bang for buck wise, the full service airlines are better value.

  • Airasia still has some black friday fare for around $400 Sydney to KL

    • thats a good price, if indeed over Xmas. I wouldn't touch Airasia with a barge pole though, their numerous pilot mistakes were all over the news. You know what they say, no smoke without fire….also some time ago they cancelled 1 of my flights without rhyme or reason, almost cost me big time. Never again….

      • Enjoy paying full fare then.

  • I've made dozens of international flights, usually on low cost carriers. I decided long ago that if it's not my time to go, then the flight will be fine.
I'm grateful to AirAsia for getting me in and out of countries cheaply, which has made international travel more available to me, sometimes as low as $10 for a flight. I don't know (or really care at this stage) how they do it.

I was, however, waiting to board an aircraft once and looked out the window at an unknown (to me) chinese airline. Had a conversation with the guy standing next to me (who happened to be someone who makes reports on airline safety). He made a comment that I've remembered.. That one of the Chinese airlines weren't very concerned about whether their wheels were tightened or not.

Funny how one comment can stay with you isn't it!?

I have a friend who tsk tsks every time I take a flight, reminding me that my carbon footprint is getting bigger.

I had a quick look on Google For for you. Its looking expensive to get out of Syd out at that time. I suggest that if you've got the bucks, do it. That's what money is for, right 😊
