Christmas Tree Stand or Pot?

We have decided to go back to the real tree this year and was wondering what's the best way to stand the tree?
My wife is suggesting a Xmas tree stand but I recall using a pot with sand when I was younger.
Just googled it and apparently you can also use a pot with pebbles in it.
Is there a best option?
Also, any other tips would be great.

We are in Canberra so might head out to gundaroo tree farm and cut our own down with the kids.

  • My family used rocks. The trees last a little longer and look nicer with plenty of water.

  • Get a sturdy box something shaped like a milk crate or a wooden one - cut a hole the size of the trunk and stack the box with bricks or rocks

to make it look festive wrap in christmas wrapping something sorta like this

  • We use a stand. Does the job and isn't too much fuss
Depending on how dense the tree is at the bottom/how long the trunk is, it might be a challenge to do with rocks/pebbles. Similarly, if you tip most in and find the tree isn't level, do you have to tip them all back out? (If you can't simply push/pull the tree to adjust)

  • Christmas Tree Stand or Pot?

    definitely the ganja

    • -1

Santa goes with green all the way… Hence the need for cookies…

  • I used a bucket with bricks then wrapped with brown paper and brow.
