The Sony shop is selling it for $1374.00 + $45.00 delivery (Melbourne).

Does anyone else know of a good place to get a better deal?

Many thanks!

There is no price for the model you are looking for, but:

"Note 2 : David Jones will match any price & offer free 5-year warranty on all Sony Bravia TVs till Mar 11 2008"

  • Jammers, I just last week to Harvey Norman and Bing Lee to see all the LCD and Plasma's they had on offer.

To sum up in one sentance. Do not go for LCD screens if its going to be bigger then 24", Plasma screens are much better at larger sizes.

Im not worried about the ghosting you get on LCD which has gotten better but the bigger issue of picture quality.
Plasma screen are so much sharper, clearer and more crisp. I was amazed at how, and being bluntly truthful, shit the picture is on an LCD. LCD's are just shit if they are not showing the picture in their native resolution.

  • we can say this and that, it might be jolly exciting to debate on what is better. at the end of the day, go to a store and compare for your self. please go to a store and look at it in real life and compare it with some other tv's next to it

    • That is good advice but be aware that in-store viewing may not always be optimal for various reasons (both inadvertent and potentially deliberate). It helps to have an understanding of the considerations before doing a comparison.

For jammers, there may be slightly cheaper KDL32V3100W options through Cameraworld or Projectors Online.

  • Thanks everyone for their advice.

I understand this is one of the current biggest debate, Plasma or LCD? Not unlike an "Are you a Mac or a PC?" question that will break a family apart. Everyone will have an extreme opinion on what is the best technology, and there are loads of comparisons everywhere. But that was not really my question as I have worked out my options. However, it was still great to have a read through those links. Both the articles that ozpete and HueyData posted are excellent and worth a read for anyone considering the options.

Kingwang, I have seen it at the shops and in my case, the LCD will work better for us as it will be used in a bright environment and quite frequently as a tester for 3D graphics and a presentation screen too. If I had wanted a larger size, I probably would have considered about the Plasma more, but at the shops, there were not that many choices for plasmas when it is below 42". So in this case, it is definitely more beneficial for us to purchase a LCD as there are more choices when it comes down to selecting something that looks aesthetically pleasing as well.

Kcyw, thank you for the note on David Jones, that 5 year warranty is an excellent deal and they do indeed price match but they will not do it for this model as they have to order it in.

HueyData, thanks for those CameraWorld and Projectors Online links, I found them too on Friday through http://www.staticice.com.au/

Webprice.com.au does a good deal too at $1229.00 like CameraWorld but I purchased it at The Good Guys.

The Good Guys always win in the end.

    • Hi jammers, what price did you get from The Good Guys?
