Sagemcom F@St 5355 - Use for Other Provider than Telstra ?

Hi,

Does anyone know if I can use my Sagemcom F@st 5355 for another provider other than Telstra?

My son lives with his mum and they have FTTN only and wants to connect this modem to use for his TPG NBN. But when he plugs it into the wall via the little ADSL splitter box thing he can connect to the wifi but he can't connect to the internet. He can log into the modem and see all the settings, but not sure why he cant browse the internet. All the green lights are on the modem.

If he plugs the modem straight into the wall socket it just doesn't do anything. Only 1 green light comes on the modem.

So annoying :(

  • I remember searching about another model in the series made by Sagemcom re using it on a non Telstra connection and the advice I found on forums is that Telstra uses a different protocol so either one had to do some reconfiguration or it wasn't possible I forget which. In any case I decided against buying it used from Gumtree.

So do a search on that model and hopefully there will be hits from Whirlpool.

  • have you tried reset ?

Telstra gateway max tg799vac works fine on non-telstra nbn , with a reset.

  • Just curious you mention FTTN and then TPG NBN. As you mag be aware there several different technologies so NBN isnt too useful.

Also there shouldnt be any ADSL/Splitter on NBN to my knowledge- the device should connect to the NBN box…

  • I told my son to do reset, which he says he has done.

I also told him that I didn't think there should be a splitter on NBN. But he told me when he plugs it straight into the wall socket it doesn't do anything, and only one of the few green lights come on.

I would go there myself and check but it's not possible :(

    Anyway, thanks.

I don't have this device, I don't have NBN and I am not with Telstra. But reading the above it seems this device can only work with other RSP in modem bridge mode (i.e. you need a router between it and you PCs). Its router section seems to be locked to Telstra and in later firmware versions you can't even change the DNS servers.

You are better off asking in Whirlpool. More techie type over there, more experience, more knowledge.
