Best Sub $24 Per Month Mobile Plans Can Be Prepaid or Postpaid or PAYG or Whatever

So my great vaya $14-16 per month plan is soon to be expired.

To be honest it wasn't that great was like unlimited local calls and texting and some international costs or fees and 1.5 or 2 gigabytes of data monthly.

But it was prepaid for a year so it has done it's job.

In the market again for the best I guess sub $24 mobile plans be it $9.90 or $17.

Just let me know of the best ones you know about and list em down below.

I am aware of the Kogan ones already so you can cut them out.. very good contenders but am looking for something maybe cheaper or more data or something.

Bonus points if you know a plan that doesn't overcharge you when you go over your data limit just stops you from using more data and not sure if these still exist but would be awesome if anybody knew if they did.

I know just plans have unlimited local calls to mobile and landline and some even have international.

So let me know your best mobile plan deals Ozbargain be they post paid, pre paid, payg or whatever I just don't need plans that come with a phone or subsidize a phone as I already have one so SIM card only.

Also does anybody know if there us a way to turn off your data completely in some plans as I probably won't try to use it because of random unexpected bill shock as a precaution especially on those really small data plans.

  • so do you want international calls & roaming or not ?

you can turn off data on your phone (not sure about iphone)

    • Would be nice but no not necessary.

Worst case scenario is I use it to ring an American number for warranty or return shipping information or something which I can use a landline for but yeah don't really need it if it is an added bonus then hooray.

      • if you need your number during overseas to do banking transaction (sms code) , etc. then you need international roaming.

get the virgin deal - $24pm 6gb, unlimited local, $50 international calls
        also features international roaming

        deal ends tomorrow noon.

        • Rollover comes in handy too with the virgin plan

        • @coco1458: any extra charges for going over the data limit or does it stop when you hit your maximum in this case 6gb.

        • @AlienC: if you have available data rollover, it will proceed to use the data rollover.
If you're out of data, it'll charge $10 per GB

        • @coco1458: so no hard stop or quick prompt to ask you if you wish to continue or not when you reach your data limit.

For me one wrong data excess shenanigan could make me bankrupt so am trying to find plans that have good data usage control and good excess data anti bill shock prevention measures like Kogan.

Man I am starting to sound like a Kogan rep now but honestly their excess data usage policy is very good comparatively.

        • @AlienC: I think your best option is to go on Kogan.

  • Lycamobile seems like it might be alright.

Pre-Paid, Runs on the Telstra Network, Unlimited calls, text & 3gb data for $19.90 and 50% off first month.

Have seen some pretty bad customer service reviews though, so be careful.

    • Cool. I'll keep this in mind. That's a good price and decent data. Have you got any idea how they deal with excess data?

Seems like only Kogan atm is using an anti bill shock method of stopping you from using extra data and incurring extra fees by stopping your data once you hit your limit and forcing you to purchase more data or recharge if you wish to use more.

Great friendly mobile plan tactic to avoid bill shock and unwanted excess data fees.

  • I'm interested too. Let me know what you decide on OP (any why).
