Not sure about other states, but the Starbucks stores seem to be doing OK in Melbourne (after the re-launch). Swanston St and Chaddie stores were both packed the last time I walked past. Or maybe it's just the hot weather…
Seems strange, I would have thought people in Melbourne would be the most discerning coffee drinkers in the whole country, and would reject Starbucks the strongest. Eg one of the best coffee shops in New York is called Little Collins since Collins St in Melbourne is so famous for its coffee!

I was surprised to see the queues as well, although there were more Asians in both stores at the time so maybe that explains it.
I stay away from Starbucks completely- only recently tried the dark choc mint frappucino cause it was half price and the weather was pretty warm. Even then I couldn't finish the whole cup myself- way too sweet!

I do love starbucks (cold drinks only, not coffee) and it's like $8 for a drink… on par with boost.
