This computer will no longer receive Google Chrome updates because Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8 are no longer supported

I have a mac desktop computer: I have version OS X 10.7.5 Processor 2.66 ghz intel core i5 Memory 4 gig 1067 mhz DDr3

My browser keeps saying:

This computer will no longer receive Google Chrome updates because Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8 are no longer supported.

Even though I download the latest browser,

What can I do ( in simple terms) to get it to be to be upgraded without spending extra money!

The same goes for my other browsers

You'll either have to upgrade your OS to a supported version or give up using Chrome. This was announced way back:

Nothing . Your computer is too old to accept updates and chrome is no longer supporting the OS.

Fair enough too. The computer would be 10 years old now and they don’t want to have to provide security updates.

You really need to buy a new computer. A used ~2012 era iMac can be had quite cheaply. Or check the refurbished store.

    • Sorry I misread your specs as core 2 duo for some reason.

Why can’t you upgrade the OS?

    What sort of Mac Desktop?

    iMac, MacMini…

OS X 10.7.5 is your Operating System (Software)

2.66 ghz intel core i5 is your CPU.

4 gig 1067 mhz DDr3 is Memory or RAM.

Short answer is you need to see if your Computer has the Capacity to
run a newer Operating System than OS 10.7.5

    Let us know…

  • don't need to buy new PC

    just upgrade your OS

Your iMac is from 2009. This can have the system software updated to OS X 10.11 "El Capitan". This will not only enable your computer to update chrome, but it is also important as unless you keep up your to date, your system will not receive security updates, and will be vulnerable as a result.

    Follow this guide from apple:
