What Is The Optimum OzBargain Credit Card Line up?

So…. Westpac has decided to take away their Amex offering next April.

I like the Amex for its 3X reward points and for the Shop small and Amex connect deals so i find it essential to my Wallet arsenal.

Other than the Amex, I have:
A standard rewards CC with an annual fee and complimentary travel insurance
A "28Deg MC" for spending on trips and the odd foreign currency purchase online.
A "Coles no annual rate MC" for the big electronic purchases that i wish to collect back the "early adopter's" tax

So i have three Qns for you Ozbargainers.

  1. Assuming you paid off your CC diligently every month.
  2. What would be the Ozbargainer's perfect CC line up?
  3. Have i missed out any awesome CC pros with my line up?

  • You missed out Bankwest Zero Platinum Mastercard and AMEX Essential Credit Card.

    • As far as free credit cards go, these 2 cover all bases.

  • Citibank?

    • Unless they have 0% interest balance transfer offer, I can't see any reason for one.

      • Citibank signature card - free for life…

Some good samaritan already did it for you

    • AmEx Platinum Edge card (for buying 5% WISH eGift cards from Cashrewards and getting 3 FF points per $ and also for Statement Credit offers such as Shop Small)

    • AmEx Explorer card [with points earn linked to the Platinum Edge's Ascent program] (for getting 2 FF points per $ on all spend apart from WISH eGift cards) (also for Statement Credit offers such as Shop Small)

    • Coles Rewards MasterCard (for all international purchases and for use when AmEx is not accepted/accepted with a ridiculous surcharge)

Regarding the Coles Rewards MasterCard, it is possible to get the first year free (like I am on right now), by initially having the Coles No Annual Fee MasterCard and requesting an 'upgrade' to the Rewards card).

This is my card lineup and it works well for me. I rarely use the Coles card, so I'll most likely downgrade it once my first year free is up, unless they can waive it for me!
