Easily the best driving game from current gen. Not riddled with intrusive microtransactions. And the Hot Wheels DLC is an absolute blast to play.

      I fall off the track a lot…#womandriver

  • Just a word of warning that I jumped on the last deal and haven't been able to get this to run on my PC.
The weird part is that I can run the Demo perfectly. Probably I'll need to do a clean install of Windows 10 if I want it to run.
    Not a great experience!

yeah Microsoft do this a fair bit

on my pc it was working Ok under the previous build but this creators update has screwed everything

      on console its fine

      • Are you on the creators update or the newest Fall Creators update?

    • What problems are you guys having? I had some problems with my install lately but was able to fix it.

      • For me, I downloaded the whole game from the Microsoft Store but it will only boot the game and then crash before it even goes full screen.
Following error code in event viewer:

Unable to start a DCOM Server: Microsoft.OpusPG_1.0.101.2_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe!OpusReleaseFinal as Unavailable/Unavailable. The error:
        "5"
        Happened while starting this command:
        "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.OpusPG_1.0.101.2_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\forza_x64_release_final.exe" -ServerName:OpusReleaseFinal.AppXhz3m1thxb88yczd2ax0k426vzefwnnmc.mca

I've made sure my drivers are up to date and my hardware is brand new, I've tested my connection to Xbox live. I haven't re-downloaded the whole game but it is 90GB so that's a lot to ask. Any solutions are very welcome.

        • So it launches, shows the splash screen, then closes before going full screen and loading the menu?

Usually that means its a problem with your Micosoft Store account sync (Microsoft Store is the worst DRM platform…).

Easiest way to fix it is to just download any free app in the Microsoft Store. This should "reset" your account and then you should be able to launch Forza again.

If that doesn't fix it, try sign out/in of your Store account before doing the above. Hope that helps!

        • @evol: That's for the advice, unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have worked. Still the same problem.
I've used the Microsoft Accounts Troubleshooter which seems to indicate that I "can't connect to the sync service".
Again no clue how to fix it.

        • @Lemonator:

Have you tried resetting the apps? Go into Settings > Apps and find Forza in the list. Click Advanced Options then you'll see the Reset button, do the same for the Xbox and Microsoft Store apps too. This will clear the app cache and restore the apps default settings, you won't have to re-download anything but you will need to sign in to the Store app again to verify your Store purchases.

        • @enigma88: Unfortunately not fixed after following these steps.

        • @Lemonator: Sorry to hear that, running out of ideas. Is your game installed on C:\ or another drive? Maybe try move the Forza app (from Settings) back to C:\ or vice versa. Also could try uninstalling just the DLC and see if it boots after that. Failing that, you might be up for a re-install.. I feel your pain though, I went through hell to get this game working.

        • @enigma88: I do recall some people saying Windows games needed to be on the C:\ drive. My C:\ drive wouldn't be able to fit the game though since it's only 120GB. I installed the game on another internal hard drive which as far as I know hasn't had any trouble so I don't know if it's the download's fault. That said I'll try out all these suggestions later. Since it might mean a clean Windows 10 install I'm going to wait until I have a full day to fix any problems that might arise from that.

        • @enigma88: I've just got it working. All it took was re-downloading the game to another hard drive. That seems to have fixed whatever the issue was. Also didn't install the DLC so maybe that helped.

    • I had the same issue at first on Windows 10. Couldn't launch the game via shortcut or store. Find out what was causing it; I had disabled Windows update via services long time ago because I got sick of my PC restarting in the middle of a game to update. Once I re-enabled updates the game launches perfectly.

This might not be a fix for all, but it worked for me. i7-6700, 16GB, GTX1070 on ultra.

      • I did the windows update troubleshooter but it doesn't seem to have fixed anything.

Careful if you're getting it just for PC. The performance isn't great and it crashes to desktop randomly. The frame times are really inconsistent which makes it seem like the game is stuttering - it gets worse the higher the framerate is.

On the flipside the game is a lot of fun - haven't had any issues playing on console.

    • +1

I think a lot of the stuttering issues from launch have been fixed in various updates already. I've had the game since day 1 and luckily have never encountered any performance issues whatsoever (playing @ 1440P GSYNC, max settings, 80-100ish FPS the whole time).

Have had the odd random crash here and there but nothing systemic, maybe 10 or so in approx 250+ hrs of play.

This is a great deal for one of the most fun driving games in the past 5 years :D

Lots of pc users report problems with it running well on their system. I must be one of the few lucky ones, I've got it around 100-120 fps on high settings using 2560*1440 resolution

I think ms are a lot harder to deal with for refunds so buyers beware. All the best.

    • I think there are two parts to this:

      1) The launch build was trash, and the first few patches weren't great either
      2) This game LOVES RAM, to an extent that PC gamers haven't really seen in the last decade or so. 8GB definitely isn't enough, and it wasn't happy on my previous rig with 12GB. 16+ seems necessary

      • +1

I have 32gb of ram, a 6700k and a GTX 1080 and the game still stutters a lot even when I have the 30fps cap turned on and the graphics set to medium (1440p resolution).

Forza 7 runs even worse and I can't even get a stable 30fps with everything on low and render resolution scale to a ridiculously low value that makes it so you can't even see the track properly.

The windows store and UWP platform are garbage. Gears of War 4 runs really well though so idk why they can't fix Forza.

        • use the geforce experience to set the best settings, I have a GTX 1070 and works great at 1080p on ultra 60fps

        • @gugav: Uninstalling Geforce Experience is the best thing you can do for performance, the ShadowPlay thing gives your games bad frame timings and some games force use of it even if you have it disabled inside Geforce Experience.
