MacBook Pro for Video Editing

I know this will make a few people cringe, but I do like Final Cut Pro over Adobe Premiere for a few reasons and to get to the point - I'm looking for some suggestions for a good Macbook (Pro) most likely for video editing while traveling.

I know the most obvious? Would be to just get the most current top tier one, but I do want to save as much as I can. I really don't think I care about the touchbar as much. I'm not using 4k footage, mostly 1080p.

Was hoping to get some suggestions while there's some small Macbook sales (and possibly ones coming for Xmas).

Thank you!

well tbh i got my macbook pro off gumtree. its early 2015 version, 256gb. As dodgy as it sounds, it works perfectly fine and almost perfect condition. Paid 1.3k via bank transfer to the guy, it came with the box, charger and everything. You should consider it, instead of forking out a couple hundred more for a brand new one.

Here is some past advice about buying from Gumtree and how to avoid getting scammed.

Also since nobody has mentioned it: every thought about Hackintosh? Making one would require time and research however.

  • My nov 2012 mbp with retina still works fine for 1080p, probably not the fastest in the world but still works. (I use final cut). So I would say anything newer than that and you should be fine.

    I have a 1.5ghz with 8gb ram (I think) and 256gb sdd

  • Thanks everyone, might start looking into older ones though - realy appreciate it!
