If You Buy Something Online from EB Games, Do They Give You a Sealed Game?

Hey folks

I ordered a PS4 Pro + 5 Games online from EB. (Not from their eBay store)

I’m just wondering if the games will come delivered sealed in shrink wrap?

Thanks

  • When you go to a physical store they do.

  • That will depend if they sent you ones in shrink wrap.

Your more likely then in store I'd imagine.

Oh wait new console, yes they should be.

It depends on where it's coming from and you can usually tell from the shipping fee they apply.

If it's from a store, some games won't be wrapped.

it's hit and miss, sometimes I get it wrapped, sometime they aren't.

  • I used to work in retail, specifically the games/electronics department - I can tell you not all games come shrink wrapped/sealed.

    • Yeah like 3DS games weren't sealed. You can tell if you preorder. Blu ray games should be sealed however, but they have to put some as display boxes so unless you're getting a new release there's a high chance it will be unsealed.

      • No - we had entire boxes of xbox one/ps4 games come unsealed.

Yea, it seems to be standard practice these days for retailers to take out the contents from the boxes, place them into ziplock bags and place the boxes out as displays. I've had it happened at Big W and JB Hi-Fi. I don't like it as it means the game has been handled at least twice (by the employee) and the box by God-knows-how-many others.

Personally, I wouldn't buy from EB online. I'd just buy from Target or Big W instead as it'll be cheaper and you won't need to gamble on whether it'll arrive as "new" in the post.

It's revolting that it's actually legal to sell opened games as "new" in peasant gaming stores like EB in Australia.

The games I buy from BigW are opened already.. You take the empty game box to the counter, and they take the cartridge and manuals from behind the counter, and pop it in the box with a tamper proof seal.

      • Yep, was going to say that. I don’t like buying games from Big W. They have sealed games there, but they are only very new release games in the shrink wrap. Eg the sims, nfs payback. I don’t understand why they take the disc out of the case :/ pretty dodgy, but even EB do it. Personally I don’t really like it.

I bought the elder scrolls gold edition for my brother for Christmas from Big W the other day. I opened it to check for scratches (because of course, it wasn’t new casing or disc) I found a little scratch on the disc but i haven’t tried out the game yet. Still have the receipt and I am waiting for my brother to try it.

I like Costco though, they have dummy games on the shelf and you go to the front of the store to pick up a sealed game. JB & HN give you sealed games too :)

  • Very unlikely, you don't even get them shrink wrapped in store unless you ask specifically

  • I can comment based on experience (5 Years EB Games) that when processing an order like this I personally would go to the back room and grab as many sealed copies of these games as possible.

    1) Customer receives a sealed copy.
    2) I don't have to gut another copy to place on the shelf.

    Win win for both parties.
