Australian Citizenship Exam

Hey all

Documents to take to citizenship interview
Will passports be enough for ID and age proof
Is birth certificate mandatory ?

Also in the test , will the questions only come from the book’s testable section or even outside of it ?

Majorly looking for replies from people who have taken the exam recently in last 1-2 months

    Learn who Don Bradman is

This is only relevant if you get Dawn Fraser as an interviewee lol. Get it wrong and she'll tell ya to go back to where your parents came from lol.

You know the difference between a dropbear and a bunyip, right?

    • I don't know what Dropbear is but Bunyip is a country town in Victoria :D

Yes, I googled it and now I know what they are but doubt it would be on OP's test.

      • Bunyip is a town yes, but "A bunyip" is is a large mythical creature from Australian Aboriginal mythology, said to lurk in swamps, billabongs, creeks, riverbeds, and waterholes. Better to have both answers up your sleeve :)

        • I didn't know that before I googled it. If it was on my test that's what I would have said.

The questions will only be from the testable section.

Check your invitation again the list of what to do during the day is probably there

      And just answer "yeah nah".

  • Was the easiest darn test when I sat for it back in 2011, and I got 100% :) 90% of it was general knowledge anyways. Having said that, there were bunch of folk who were crying and pleading to re-sit, but there's a delay before they can sit for the test again (so they can go back and prepare). Reminded me of school days, pleading for that extra 5 mins during the exams. :D

I remember even downloading some app on google play which had mock tests.

Part of the test is they make you eat vegemite. If you say you hate it. You get deported for not being australian enough.

    • Good thing I have never taken it then! :D

    • +1

Lol I would be like, No thank you. Do I need to buy a ticket or are you deporting me? I have only had vegimite once on a school camp and was spitting for 2 hours. That shit is nasty.

If you prefer video learning to reading (like I do), try the YouTube channel done by the IMMI.gov citizenship staff. Its an official 10 or 15 part series/channel (been a few years so unsure). Chapters with mock questions broken into 30min episodes if I recall correctly… 🤔

Was able to score 100%, I think I studied 2 or 3 videos a day, and did a binge watch the night before.

Else, rock up in a Commodore station wagon with AC/DC doofing, grey tracksuit pants, Bonds singlet, UGG boots, 2 front teeth surgically removed, and a tattoo of the Southern Cross on your left shoulder - might end up with the same result…

Overachiever! Not very Australian. Should have just done pretty good.

Lol, well in case I wasn't clear in my post, I got 100% by just watching a few videos. Wanted to show the Op an easy alternative, if he/she is into video learning.

I think we are pretty good just as is, no way should we go the way US has.

Although, faster internet and better deals on Amazon? I can whinge about those, in true Aussie fashion…

Make sure you take a long neck of VB with you.

Why do you want to become an Australian citizen? Are you thinking of running for federal parliament?

    • Pretty remember to quit their old citizenship afterwards then - there are a lot of very silly people that have forgotten to do that and then forgotten that they didn't!

You also need to prove you can run from a police officer while wearing thongs on your feet and at least 3 times over the legal limit.
