What's the best mobile broadband modem for all carriers? Or mostly Optus and Vodafone

There is no one modem that's best for every carrier because some carriers use systems that require carrier hardware such as Telstra cable.

I am with Exetel, which uses Optus
I have mobile broadband, which I mostly use at home, as I have no other possible internet options.
I bought an unlocked Huawei E5573 modem on ebay about 6 months ago - I think it was ~$50.
It works a treat! I have no problems…it picks up the signal fantastically :) , and I live in a country area. I stream movies and all sorts of stuff - all good :)

A cheap android phone can work pretty well as a mobile broadband device.
