Force Windows 10 Mail to Quit in Background?

This is frustrating. I only get ADSL-1 living rural and struggle at the best of times. I have turned off all
background apps but Windows 10 mail still collects messages continuously in the background. How do I stop this?

I love How to Geek. Just go there if it comes up in your google search for fixes, it's always on point and very well written.

How about changing the "Download new content" mail setting to manual sync?

Open Mail App. Click "gear icon" to bring up settings. Click "Manage Accounts", select an account to edit settings, click "Change mailbox sync settings" and choose "manually" in "Download new content" dropbox, click "Done", click "Save".

    • Cheers that should work :) just means when open I will need to click refresh to get emails.
