interesting GameFly approach in 2017. Let's say someone joins the $30 a month plan and can get one game at a time, given Aus Posts estimate of 4 business days for delivery, then 4 business days back. You can rent 3 games a month if you don't hold them for any/many days.

    • Hi, thanks for the comment. We also offer an express return feature so when you are ready to post back a game you can mark it as express return and we can get your next game in the mail without having to wait for the game to get back to us.

    • …but why would you want to do that?

      • Cos you have a subscription, silly!

Yeah this sounds like a great idea!
Maybe I'll invest in Blockbuster Video as well!

Not sure where the sarcasm is coming from, half of Australia is on ADSL - thanks to a Prime Minister who pays billions to Telstra while lobbying the ACCC to not lower wholesale internet costs thereby ensuring every single Australia pays even more money to Telstra.

The braindead mass that is the Australia voter will probably vote him back in.

Xbox Game Pass is a third of the price of this, and slowly downloading games @ 5Mbps is probably still going to be as fast if not faster than getting them physically posted to you. Plus you can download as many as you want at a time.

This is an insane business model in 2018.

If only PS Now would offer the download option but no you get crappy streaming quality which is crap for most of the world even if you have good quality internet. But you know Sony :( I don't think Australia will ever get it.

Game pass only has old titles while this has new games like Wolfenstein II Assassin creed origins etc.

Yes this is for a select audience of those who like to play single player campaigns.

Don't forget when the postman/courier can't be bothered going to your house so you have to pick it up next business day.

  • not bad if you full time player (single), just play compaign missions and only rent new releases. But then there are not many games that I wanted to play on my ps4 - only played 4 games this year, which I bought at discount. I think eb games trade in may work out cheaper

    • Not everyone sits and only plays shooters man :P

$359.40 per year. Not much more to say.
Sorry $344.43 (first year) with the 50% first of month discount.

  • We have used Getgaming for years, and have found it to be a great service. It's not for everyone. In a perfect world streaming/downloading a game would be amazing and if you are able to do that, then that is great. But our internet is still stuck on ADSL1 here, so downloading games is very slow. Especially lately when new games are 50+GB each. It ties up the internet and no one else can use it for much until the game is downloaded which can take half the weekend. And yeah, it's $360+ a year for Getgaming but that is what, the equivalent of 6 x $50 games if you buy them? We've had 19 games out this year so far so I feel like we have gotten some value out of it.

Actualy 7x games at $51.45 approx. Having said that I never paid full price for my games except for some recent switch releases where I have paid about $65 or less. PS4 exclusive library is so vast and probably dirt cheap in the $15 to $35 range of you are patient. Also remember that after spending $360 per year, you do not have anything to hold for or no residual value or trading value if you are buying and selling games.

      • Technically you don't if you buy online either.
T&C has the game stores able to pull games any time they want, games are locked to an account that may or may not be usable once the next gen hit and you don't want to leave the console set up, and no physical copies to sell afterwards.

A lot of people will play single player, clock it and the games will sit there never to be touched again not wanting the resell or trade in hassle.
Comparing this rental model to online purchases is pretty close.

        • Yeah true for online games. I only buy physical discs, someone who likes collecting physical discs and cartridges. My internet is too slow for online downloads

  • What payment info do you collect? What do you do if someone just doesn't return a game? Is there a deposit or something?

Also, this would only be really useful if someone doesn't have an EB games nearby - remembering that you can return any game within 7 days for any reason, so basically rental, but free (keep one game every 2 months or so for the same price as GetGaming but you get to keep some games out of it). And, that time is extended to mid January for the Christmas period. So if anyone was going to sign up, and has an EB games nearby, they should hold off until after the deal to be able to return games at EB ends.
