Long Term iOS User Looking to Take The Jump. (Pixel 2 XL?)

So long story short I've been a very long term iOS user however I feel like it's time to take the jump to android.

I was looking to upgrade my device and was eyeing off the X however I am VERY tempted by the Pixel 2 XL's 6.0 screen.

I used to have a macbook however have swapped over to a windows based platform and have also moved my Apple TV to a chromecast.

My last few Apple devices are my phone, iPad and Apple Watch which I will sell if I do move to an android device.

Is there anyone here with a similar experience moving from iOS to android or even more specifically iphone to one of the new pixels? I have had iphones ever since the iPhone 4 and briefly purchased a galaxy S3 before moving back to an iPhone 4S because I didn't like the user experience which is what scares me a little bit in moving to android.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of this possible move!? Thanks guys.

  • What is the main reason for moving? Screen size is almost identical, 5.8 inch vs 6.0 inch.

You are basically swapping an expensive phone for another expensive phone. And still no headphone jack.

    • I probably wasn’t clear I have an iPhone 7 Plus currently so 4.7 inch display.

      • Oh probably im not so clear either. What im saying is that, screen size between both IPX and P2XL shouldnt be a consideration because they are very similar. Im just wondering why the urge to change platform because since you are so tied into the Apple ecosystem, it is probably more advantageous to keep it that way.

        It is a big move.

        • Mostly the price difference and slightly bigger screen. Also android is looking more clean and minimalistic in my opinion than iOS these days!

Same situation as you op. I jumped ship about 10 months ago. Never looked back.

    • Thanks mate! Was there anything in particular that you really liked and or missed when you swapped?

I didn't go pixel. I went Sony. Still a very vanilla Android experience and great camera.

Was surprised how similar ios and Android are. Not a big learning curve at all.

Only hassle I had was that I never had a Gmail account and made the decision to transition to Gmail after using an ISP email address for the last 15 years. Took a few months to swap but worth the effort.

        • Ah yep! It’s definitely the vanilla android that’s tempted me. I’m sure it will be a lot different to the S3 I used all those years ago. I use gmail primarily and have the gmail app on my iPhone along with google maps which I feel are both superior. Part of the reason I think I should be on the other side!

Go with the Oneplus 5T. Its better than the Pixel IMHO, only slightly less capable w.r.t the camera
