New Deals Site for Those Who Are on The Go

Hi all,

I thought I'll post here about our new website called www.salenear.me
It enables bargain hunters who are on the go to see all the great deals that are happening around them..

To get started, just go to www.salenear.me on your mobile phone and off you go.
At the moment, we've just launched it in Melbourne, so most of the deals are coming from Melbourne. However, in the next few days, hopefully we'll start getting some great deals from other states as well. :)

We've also got some great prizes to give away. To win it, it's simple. All you need to do is

    So is this location sensitive? (i.e. uses the built in GPS to figure out where you are?)

    Yep.. This is location sensitive.. If you have newish phone (iPhone / Android), it will automatically use built in GPS to work out your current location and displays the relevant sales near you..

    For older phones, you have to key in the location manually.. The great thing about this concept is, if you want to find out the sales on other states / cities / etc, you can just key in the location. :)

    @neil: An update is coming in the next few days to allow you to search deals from your computer.

    If you have any other feedback, would be greatly appreciated.

    Just tried it using a Nokia N97 Mini running the new Opera Mobile 10.1 which has geolocation. As you said, older phones or in my case, newish but different, need to select manually. Selected my location and it was spot on with the local deals.

    I'm curious to know how you get the data in there. I'm guessing it's a lot of manual work. Having location set in the deal is one of the features requested here, may be helpful for what you are doing.

    The only big issue I see is that the descriptions are scraped off of Ozbargain and probably other sites, but there is no crediting the original site. That's definitely something that needs to be changed.

    Hi Neil,

    We do get the data through a combination of data mining, manual input, and businesses putting up advertisement on our site.. So when the data being fed to us, some of the original information might be lost. I will look into this process and definitely ensure that the original credit is in place (either being link back to the original site or credit text down the bottom).

      yea i think you are not integrating it with other browser or something i used dolphin browser it didnt work but it works if i use the native browser

    Hi Jasecs,

    I personally haven't tried on DHD since I don't own one..
    I did, however, try it on Desire, Legend, and Experia X10.. All seems to be working fine even with Dolphin browser.

    What issue were you getting?

      is this one of those group buy sites? or a sale? cause I dont get why it would be pulled down if it's a sale on wednesday.

    no sorry must be group buy site. All I can see is the unpublished bit which tantalises with the info that on wed $20 itunes will be $2. I'm sure it is very limited amounts. For some site in Melbourne, probably a group buy/deal of the day site.

        It was http://www.vowcha.com.au/ but there is nothing on their site. I have no idea how I'm subscribed to the email. I'm wondering what site sold my email to them :(
