if you are thinking of going to Venus Bay they only allow recreational catching, so you can only bring a bucket and use your hands. Its fun, and pretty easy/rewarding if you take the kids. Check the weather reports though.

Port Phillip Bay intertidal zone: 0

Cape Liptrap coastal park between Point Smyth and Arch Rock including Venus Bay: 2 litres per person or if shucked 0.5 litres per person.

All other Victorian waters: 5 litres per person or if shucked 1 litre per person.

  • Per above no pipi catching in the Melbourne area. Don’t find yourself on the news!

  • I recently went to Venus bay about 2 weeks ago. Great for catching pipis but we didn't end up eating them.

Lucky my cousin saw my fb post and sent me this link. We chose not to eat them in the end.
