Double VIP points at the online Lego store, meaning 2 VIP points for every $1.50 spent. 100 VIP points qualifies for a discount of $7.50. I bit the bullet and ordered the Ninjago City city. $499, 666 VIP points, comes to around $89$50 in points that I can use for the next purchase.

I use the Lego store to buy sets that are not available in shops. If you're looking for a non-exclusive set, it's usually cheaper elsewhere.

Signing up for a VIP account is free on the Lego website. Free shipping for orders over $200.

Next double VIP event should be in March.

        • Go buy lepin

      • Oooh have you constructed the MF yet? It looks amazing! There's a guy on reddit who has it displayed in a glass coffee table, very nice centrepiece for a room IMO.

          Nah I havent.
I also have the older one 10179 as well.

          :)

      • I love constructing lego and they look lovely on my shelf, so it's worth the price to me. :) The Ninjago City is my most expensive lego purchase to date though, I can't wait for it to arrive!

Get the disney castle, that's cool too!

I dont have room to display all mine :( Need a whole house! lol

        • @Turd: I don't have the dosh to also get the disney castle, it does look gorgeous though.

I started collecting the modular buildings last year, gosh it's taken a dent to my wallet! The next one is the modular diner in Jan, I'm going to see whether I can save up and wait for a sale.

        • @Turd:

          Need a whole house! lol

          Build one…

  • JV Quite a lot of people would buy shares it still remains a private company

Also has anyone noticed you're not actually buying from the Australian store, look at your CC bill for overseas CC charges.

When you Track and trace parcel country of origin is normally cheaper on their store by the time you take exchange rate etc. you would have been better off buying overseas which you actually doing anyway.

  • i am waiting for incredible ninjago city set to be released to shops here, what's the go with that?

To be honest it might remain Lego official only.

I suspect it's the retailers not wanting to take a chance on being stuck with such huge / pricy stock rather than Lego wanting to keep it for themselves.

        You don't know Lego.
Death star,Ghostbusters hq, mindstorm ev3 are all at the 500 mark or over. Retailers aren't afraid to stock these.
And it's rumoured Myer will get the Taj mahal and MF ucs too

        • ShopForMe is saying they will be getting the UCS MF in January.

      • part of me is hoping that some time down the track Big W are gonna put it on sale…..

  • Does anyone know whether the Disney castle 71040 will be available in MYER or David Jones ? I have waited for a long time. If not, I guess it is good to buy it now from Lego store with double points.

    • ShopForMe did say the Disney Castle was arriving in December, but it hasn't appeared on their website.

  • Would love the UCS falcon to come back in stock right about now

    • if you're in VIC, you might wanna check out the Chadstone discovery centre, I saw an AFOL FB post about fifty 75192 MFs and some Taj Mahals in stock.

      • Can you collect VIP points at the Discovery Centre or is it only online and at brand stores?

        • I'm pretty sure the points are online only.

        • @beliael:

I've collected points at brand stores in Leicester Square and Stratford in London and also in Toronto so not online only. But I'm not sure what the status of the stores in Australia is.

  • Hi Beliael (op),

    How do you get

666 VIP points to around $89 worth of discount given every 100 VIP points is only $7.50 worth of discount?

  • Hey you're right, my maths was wrong! It should be around $50. I'll fix my post.
