I am looking to do a price beat at Jetstar with Tiger and am thinking of buying a discounted Jetstar gift card to make the purchase. Does anyone know of restrictions or if they can even be used for this? ie Has to make full payment with the gift card, can't be split between gift card + cc?
I called Jetstar support and the lady literally said we don't know and can't tell you. Try it out and see what happens.
Does that give enough time for gift card activate because normally need 12-24 hours, do you remember how long that link expire?
The RACQ ones are instant. I'm not sure where you are buying them from. It doesn't ever expire.. it just stays in the RACQ wallet until it gets used. I would assume you only buy a gift card when you need it.
And I always just buy the exact amount so it always gets used anyways.
After dong the price beat with Jetstar you have to pay within 1hr or it gets cancelled. Buying the gift cards from Coles it took over a day for it to activate and only in $50 and $100 lots, so you can't buy the exact amount.
Don't pay the CC fee use the GIFT CARD
Last time I did a price beat they didn't charge credit card fees ? Did this change ?
Yes they as far as I am aware have charged CC fees, this time they did again. Not that I paid them but I checked.
I have price beat before and paid using a gift card the exact amount (I bought it from RACQ). I didn't have a problem. But what I did find easier was to put in a price beat rather than chat to jetstar support who does a price beat on the stop and you have to pay straight away.. If it's approved they will send you a payment link, which then you go buy a gift card and then pay for it using the link provided. The only downside is having to wait for approval… which usually takes a few hours.
