  • Very strange product. What does it do that a normal fan doesn't?

…well if you dont aready know, Im not telling you.

      • Nether is the link the op provided

Sorry, the page you are looking for has not been found.

Seems there's a cone of silence

    • Moves a LOT more air.

    • +1

It's an air circulator as opposed to a simple fan.

It pushes air all around the room, bouncing it off walls.

$200 for a fan? It needs to be able to do the laundry or cook the dinner at that price

    • -1

Don't knock till you've tried it. It's good.

It cools you better than a $10 pedestal fan, or a $600 dyson bladeless fan (garbage btw).

  • +1

Another over-hyped product just like the Dyson.

    • -1

It's the best fan I've ever owned. You are right about Dyson though.

But over-hyped is not something I've heard about the Vornado brand. The brand itself is not well known to the average consumer, so I don't know where you're getting that from, or who you've been hearing hyping it up.

        Sniff…. I can smell a rep

        • Shit.. you got me.

  • +1

It's a really good fan. Saw it at Costco for $149.99 a few weeks ago.

Saw it at Costco for $149.99 a few weeks ago.

If anyone’s interested, Costco Canberra still had about 13 left when I called them on Thu, 14 Dec. I got DJs to price match them. Very impressed with the unit. Solidly built and does a great job.

IMHO these are a much better fan and they're only $108 http://www.omegaaltise.com.au/product/product_details/Coolin…

    • +1

That's a very high price for a 35cm box fan. Also there is no way in hell that gets close to a Vornado.

      • It's not just an ordinary box fan, read some reviews, check them out in stores vs the Vornado and then make your decision.
They are great for placing in a window frame at night time to bring in cooler air, try doing that with a Vornado.
I said "IMHO", and get negged. I suppose you can't have an opinion on here anymore, too many haters.

        • You were negged not for having an opinion, but because your opinion was a bad one.

If you take it to the extremes, you can say any nasty thing you want about a person, including racial slurs, if all you had to do was insert IMHO to the front of it and expect no consequences.

You're comparing a small fan with a fan designed to circulate air around a room as opposed to blowing it straight at you.

        • @lostn:

The fan I compared it to is not small, the 35cm is the fan blade diameter not the total size of the fan.
The Vornado 660 only has a 25cm fan by comparison. I have seen both of the fans in action, maybe you should do the same before running your mouth.

        • @whitey: It's still a small fan designed to blow straight at you.

This is meant to blow into an opposite corner ceiling.

Not the same function of product. That's why you got negged. It's not the size of the blade, but the size of the blade for its intended use function.

        • @lostn:

When I went to school I was taught hot air rises, so you use this fan to blow the hot air from the ceiling then it circulates that hot air back down to the area you're sitting in and it cools you down?? , very ingenious design principles indeed.
I can understand how it would help in conjunction with an air conditioner that struggles to remove the heat from a certain area, but any fan can do that.

        • @whitey:
Very scientific. What do you think is at play when you are being cooled down by a regular fan blowing air horizontally directly at you 30cm away?

        • @bargainpersona:
That would be evaporation of your sweat as the cooler air at the bottom of the room is blown against your skin.
The fan i'm talking about gives you a good breeze up to 4 or 5 metres away, not only 30cm away.

        • @whitey:

Somehow you misunderstood the scenario, the fan isn't blowing cooler air here. By your logic pedistal fans wouldn't well work either, let alone ceiling fans.

    • $108 for a normal fan? What a rip off.

Doesn't help anyone now does it!

    It's a pricey blow job.

If you find something that does the job of a Vornado but better, then please let me know. They shouldn't be compared to a normal 'fan', they would make a terrible traditional fan.

  • AC Motor only

  • 4 pole induction motor only!!!

  • How many Watts?

  • +2

Using a Vornado right now. Doesn't need to be aimed at you for you to feel the breeze anywhere :) love it!

  • +1

I'm a big fan of my two vornados.

  • This is a good FAN. I had one .
I only paid $150 from Costco

  • +1

I have one of these. Great for distributing air around the house from under the air conditioning system. Much more effective than other fans and quieter.

    • What setting do you have it on?

For the amount of air it pushes, it is quiet, but it's definitely not quiet at max setting.

      • of course it's not quiet when you set in MAX speed.

    • Yes we have one too. Amazing. Highly recommend.

  • Has bought in last week from Marsden Cosco for $149.99, plenty there, and yes, pretty good fan,
