Android TV with Physical Controller

Hi Guys,

After a Christmas present for someone. Basically all I need for it to do is install the FreeView app to watch/playback free to air TV. The current TV is not a smart TV so I am looking at things like the nexus player/Nvidia Shield.

Only requirements are device I can install android apps on that has a physical controller to interact with the device. A Chromecast won't cut it as it is starting to get to 'techy' for the person I am buying for.

Is there a cheaper version of the Nexus Player that doesn't require me to setup a whole lot of stuff (ie Raspberry Pi)
