American Express Physical Card Quality

So I watched American Psycho the day after ordering my new (first) Amex and was really excited - The Explorer card looked badass, and I was looking forward to channeling my Patrick Bateman narcissism over how cool the card would look.

Then it turned up, and it sucks. The CBA issued everyday debit cards feel nicer. It's so thin and flimsy, even my Medicare card is thicker.

I thought Amex were supposed to be premium cards? This is seriously disappointing

If you're getting Amex cards just for the looks, then you're doing it wrong.

And in the meantime, people around the world are living without electricity and clean water…

Amex is not the "premium" card offerer it used to be. Even the Platinum card is very common these days, ever since it changed from "by invitation only". The only ones even vaguely worth having are the by invitation cards, but then if you've got one of those you're hardly likely to be on OzB!

The card you are thinking of is the centurion card. Its an invite only, no limit, no interest, high income card. It looks similar to the explorer but is made of metal and is super rare.

    • That's exactly what I was thinking of. I had high hopes.

    • Spot on.

  • You need the centurion card!!

But be aware, tap and pay doesn't work on these things!

So you're going to look silly swiping your card when everyone taps.

    Or maybe that's the intention
