[PC] Planet Coaster on Steam 75% off - $11.24 USD | $15.26 AUD

240

I’m fairly certain this is the cheapest this game has been, I have been waiting ages for it to be cheap enough to purchase.
It has very positive review and great time waster over the holidays.

This game is fantastic, and the devs have been constantly releasing content updates and patches since it launched. Can absolutely recommend for anyone wanting to scratch a Roller Coaster Tycoon itch

      Personally I disagree.

The game starts of amazing, everything is really cool, graphics and animations are great.

However after you spend some time in the game its really quite bad compared to rollercoaster tycoon 1 or 2.

The management side of things just doesn't make sense and isn't fun.

      • I've been thinking about getting this for ages but because of the mixed reviews I'm not sure what to do. I loved the RT games because I enjoyed designing the tracks and stuff. Never really cared for the park management side. Is it worth it to get this game just for the coaster design?

        • yes, best game by miles for everything but park management.

The design aspect is where the game really shines to be honest. The 'game' is actually more of a Theme Park Architect than anything else. The construction of the coasters and so on is very easy but you can make some extremely complex rides if you want to spend the time.

I bought the game when it was 40% off and now have all the expansions as well. If you want to make actually themed rides you get quite a lot of extra pieces in the Spooky pack (for your Ghost train / Haunted Mansion type attractions) and the Adventure pack which just came out adds a great deal if you are interested in making stuff with an Indiana Jones / African Queen vibe.

There are some distinct limitations on content, partly addressed by the inclusion of generic re-colourable blocks of various shapes and sizes, but there is, so far, no way to import your own models or textures. However, if you are into making your dream theme park coasters then I think you'll really enjoy this game as it is by far the best game of this type so far and I have tried all the coaster design games I know of.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask (about the game - this is not an AMA).
