OPSM - 20% off in Store

50

Went to OPSM in store earlier to redeem my health insurance benefits EOY for a new pair of prescription glasses , the staff offered me 20% off which the deal suppose to start from Sat 23rd (I went half hour before store shut).

I believe it's store wide, as my frame and lenses all 20% off on the spot. Can't find anything online yet, and not sure when this deal will end.

Enjoy!

  • what did you buy and how much?

    Shame it’s 60% overpriced

  • I've had great success with buying spectacles on line. You will need your prescription, use for spectacles (eg reading/distance etc), PD (pupil distance), arm length, bridge width and spectacles width. If you have a more complex prescription please ask the suppliers.

e.g. standard index plastic coated spectacles with a 1.56 index $25 delivered or rimless titanium spectacles with 1.75 index lenses for $100 delivered. While these arent claimable from a health fund you will save money and get yourself some good looking spectacles.

  • Used to go to OPSM. Recently just bought new prescription glasses from online retailer, insurance covered everything. No out of pocket.
That's when I realised how expensive OPSM is…(usually out of pocket $200+)

    • Who did you use if you don’t mind my asking? I went to Specsavers to claim my benefit thinking I’d walk out with a “free” set of prescription lenses instead I was told my script is so strong I need to get lense reduction which would whack me an extra $189 on top. Truly have no idea if this was just a scam to get more money or not.

      • +1 please share

all these "no gap" thing seems to be a scam, the extra payment is more then enough to buy a pair from overseas/online, really need to cancel the optical portion of my health insurance………

I bought it from Sneaking Duck. I like them because I can try the frames at home instead of just blindly choosing them based on photos.

        • @moonlite51:

thx will give them a try

PS general question for everyone - I just tried playing around on Zenni, entered all my details, but got a message saying that apparently my "SPH or CYL is too high for this prescription", I tried it on single, bi focal, and progressive lenses and it all returned with the same message, does that mean I am stuck with a using local optometrist?

        • @FW190:

ok never mind, looks like I typed in the wrong values (the script was hand written and all over the place, probably on purpose too), working fine now

  • I went to Costco today to get my glasses. They uses Essilor coated lenses which said to be very good. They are cheaper than OPSM by around 30%. I believe OPSM also uses Essilor coated lenses but uncertain.
