Makita 18v tools - drill, driver & grinder

Hi all;
If there's any help out there it'd definitely be appreciated! I'm chasing a deal on some Mak gear - looking for a drill, bit driver and grinder for (fairly constant) home use plus a pair of batteries and a charger - be good if the batts had 3Ah or more to them.
At the moment the best I can come up with online is buying separately on eBay - 3 tools (skin only) plus a charger and pair of batteries comes to $488.83 but I'm fairly sure this would be cheaper in a package?
If someone knows of a good deal going…
No urgent rush, building a house and chopped a good many diy bits out of the contract to save some coin - ultimately that means I've got to do them myself which I'll need tools for!

  • There seems to be all sorts of kits, and some seem kits seem to be sold only by certain vendors or have redemptions. You may not get exactly what you want. I had somebody at Mitre 10 offer me a deal just by asking.

    You can look at the main vendor web sites for deals too. I'm as confused as you are! I've seen tradesmen us 12V gear as they can recharge from the 12V battery in their car. There's also the issue of other accessories to buy, including a setup for camping.

  • Why are you limiting yourself to Makita? A quick search of Bunnings shows a number of kits in that price range or less. e.g. DeWalt with 4Ah batteries with a one hour recharge $499.

  • Thanks CB, I'm checking out that link now. I might just talk to one of the vendors when they have a sale on - pity there weren't any real decent Christmas tool sales on!
    @Elppa8, I've chosen Makita because it's a brand I've owned before and trust, and many of my tradie mates use the same; the spares network in Australia is huge, and the main factor is it isn't Milwaukee, DeWalt or Ryobi - nothing against those but we use them at work and I don't want stuff mixed up!

  • bunnings have the combo kit for $499

    the same kit is at get tools direct for $429

    so you could use the Bunnings price beat to get 10% off so you could get it for $386.10 providing it works with there there terms and conditions and model numbers match etc.

      Same bundle for $399 if you have a nearby total tools

      The 3Ah batteries are pretty good in terms of usage without needing to recharge, ideally you want a kit with 2 so that if one does run flat you can continue working with the other while the first charges.
