Flight Centre Vouchers - What to Spend Them on?

I've got a $500 flight centre voucher, heading to Hong Kong & Macau in March but already bought the plane tickets - has anyone got any recommendations on how to get the best out of the vouchers?

the hotel prices on the flight centre search tool compared with basically anything else are atrocious, anyone got any tips or suggestions as to how these vouchers could be best used?

my $500 one isn't a huge concern, but i have some friends who won $2000 ones and i'd love to be able to pass on some great advice to them too

Tours or accommodation look on line and get them to match prices but don't mention you have vouchers until you pay

don't mention you have vouchers until you pay

This makes no difference. Consultants still get commission regardless of payment method.

If they know you have vouchers they will not give you the best deal as they know you have to spend them at FC . It has happened to family in the past your GF must be one of the honest ones !!!

Damn I guess if you look at it that way, you're probably right!

  • Was in a similar situation a few years ago… Won a FC gift card, Flights already booked, hotels way too expensive via flight centre, but when I told them that they were willing to price match my selected hotel on hotels.com.

And, the clincher was I was planning to book a long haul train trip in NZ, they were able to do that too, same price as I had planned to book at the train station in Auckland. Didn't know they had train booking connections.

Keep your options open, find a friendly rep and strike up a conversation…

    • thanks for that!
hotels.com is our go-to so that's what I've been comparing against. now I've just got to find one present on both sites for the same room type and see how i go… should at least get some decent improvement in hotel quality though! :)

  • thanks everyone, will give the price matchy-matchy a shot, there's a FC office just near work (and i get to work this week) so will go check it out :)

    • Just remember as I said before, it all depends on a friendly rep. I have found staff there are more often arrogant, rude and pompous, than open and approachable (especially price matching). Don't rely on your local, be firm in your requirements and try a few shops. The city does have several stores, so maybe walk a few on your lunch break…

      • yeah there's three within walking distance from the office 2 kind of similar distances from home so will give it a shot.

        cheers!

  • The advice for you and your friends would be completely different. Can't see how they have a problem if they have $2,000 in vouchers and haven't booked anything.

  • Thought about selling them at a discount for cash ?
PM me if interested or post them on Ozbargain Classifieds.

  • Do you still have this? Looking to buy $1000 worth. Thanks

    • used it last week sorry!
