Car Windows Tint Suggestion

Hi all, thinking of getting my Forester retinted with darkest legal tints, the current one faded a bit. I believe in WA, we're allowed 20% on rears, and 35% on front windows.

Came across few brands like 3M, Solargard, llumar, FM7, Octane etc. At the moment,I'm quoted the most expensive from FM7, but it seem to be the best product, just not sure how much better. The main question is, is it really worth paying more or they all more or less do the same thing? Mainly just wanna reduce amount of heat and sun coming into the car.

Love to hear from industry insiders. Thanks!

    • Why? They probably one of the most common ones out there, and so far the cheapest. Anything to watch out for?

        • That's why I'm worried. Is it cheap because inferior quality or just better wholesale pricing?

Hi mate, I highly recommend having a chat to Trent at TKO Tinting in Carlisle. I have had a few cars tinted there. Independent, honest and treats all the cars that pass through his workshop with utmost care. He'll be able to answer all of your tinting questions. Cheers.

    • Mind PM me what sort of price you got charged? Unless it's mate's rate?

      • Sure, regular pleb rate. 3M Colour Stable for a VF Commodore was $385

        • Have to say that's a bit dear for 3M? Did you look around before you went with him?

  • Interested to see what you find. Please let me know what prices you have been quoted as I'm needing to retint as my driver's side has started bubbling.

    • If you got it from retailer, you should be covered under warranty

      • I got it from a used car dealer.

  • I did my Mazda 3 in November for $345 for Octane 20, although I did get a cheaper quote for $275 but I wasn't happy with their reviews online so I've decided to go with Tint a Car Cannington.

    • same thing cheaper?

      • I dont know what you mean but Yes the other shop quoted me $275 for Octane 20 for all my windows except windshield.

  • Upon asking few people, looks like llumar brand is pretty popular among small tint businesses. Any particular reason behind this?
