Cheapest Starter Kit with Data (Not Kogan)

Looking to switch for something short and sweet approx 7 days with 1 or 2 GB data and cheap.

  I heard that is not really free, free. Rumour has it that the SIM is free but to activate, you need to put in real money (credit). Can someone confirm?

    There are 4 billing days per month so whichever is the closest, is when yours is. So you just get it free for a few days before they charge you for the first time. But you can change down to $25 for 5GB so therefore end up with 35GB for $30.
    
    Or, you can give them PayPal details then remove them from the list of authorised people that can charge you automatically. (Then you only get a few days)
