Can a CrowdSourcing Site Cheat?

It seems that @BobBrownFndn (sp?) has a Crowd-Sourcing project up on Pozibble.com
(Despite the TLD, Pozible may be AU based. Any1 confirm that?)

The site seems pretty simple, w/ some unfixed typo's & glitches (eg, can't scroll down to finish reading longer text box texts).

Does any1 have experience with this CrowdSourcimg site? Are they bona fide? Responsive? Deal Honestly?

Leaving this specific site, & moving to the general situation… It seems to me, that such sites could have a subtle "vulnerability"…

As they accept supporters' pledges & payments… what guarantee is there, that they would not Withhold a few of these, eg, to fraudulently boost their revenues?

If "caught" doing that, they could easily claim "technical error(s)" & correct the problem (only) for -reported- withheld payments, while not Refunding any of the rest.

Where pledges fall below rewards-level, the site could thank those supporters for their support, but still not pass thru their payments, with none the wiser…

What'cha think?

PS If I seem a bit "paranoid" to suggest that any AU-based sites would ever be dishonestly run, I'll hopefully be forgiven when I disclose: I've just been advised of an apparently fraudulent PayPal payment, leading to the (so far) loss of $$.

    Pozible.com is legit
    Pozibble.com is likely not

I'm not sure how much verification there is in setting up a Pozible to determine whether the Bob Brown Foundation is actually the beneficiary.
Although I'd expect it would be mentioned somewhere on their site..
Since you're referencing the Twitter handle, why not point them to it and ask?

As for the rest. there are no guarantees with Crowd Funding sites.

    • Good to know… I hadn't heard of Pozibble.com

On the BBF, I seem to recall finding a ref to Pozible.com on its or Bob's Twitter page, a while ago. It seemed legit, but I have not evidence either way. Maybe ask Bob. ;-)

There is no requirement to be any nationality to own a dotcom. Dot com.au domains have the requirements of being Australian (although it's clearly gamed by criminals all the time so don't count on it).
