Do We Have Any OzBargain Skaters?

Just started skating only a few months ago. I'm finally able to do a few tricks like the kick flip and ollie. Just curious if anyone is an occasional skater and wanted to know how far you've progressed in your skating journey.

44yo, I don't bounce very well any more so tend to stick to 'safer' skating. Still enjoy rolling around with my own children at skate parks. most school holidays involve a visit or two.

started with plastic banana board at around 10yo. first tried ollies at around 12yo once I got my first wide board. bought my first decent deck at around 14yo. have never been able to do kick flips. we would stack boards (sideways) and see how many we could ollie over. 3 was my max.

I have always preferred ramps. as a teenager I would do little two foot airs. mainly did lip tricks, 50-50, rock'n'roll, smith grinds, nose grinds etc.

at age 22ish we spent a couple of summers downhilling, that was dangerous, no pads/helmets. tighten the trucks as firm as possible and find good hills. using a car as a guide, we'd hit 50+ km/h (standing up).

I always take a board on holidays, even for my honeymoon.

  • Anyone who claims to have just started skating is surely still in their teens. The giveaway here is the phrase "how far you've progressed in your skating journey". Either an adult lurker or someone socially inept to be a skater
