3x Philips Hue White Personal Wireless LED e27 Edison Screw Twin Pack Light Bulbs (6 Bulbs) £54/$95 Delivered @ Amazon UK

190

So that's <$16/bulb (cheaper if you buy more with reduced shipping cost/bulb) vs $9/bulb for a comparable non-smart Philips LED bulb. So I bit the bullet.

Harvey Norman have them on their half-yearly sale: $26/bulb or $156 for 6 so 40% savings from Amazon UK.

  • This item does not ship to Australia.

    • Try putting them in your basket and proceed with checkout. Mine went through ok.

  • Good deal but wonder if its obtainable?

  • Non-Smart Bulbs so a bit overpriced for normal LED

    • They are smart bulbs. They're the new entry level Philips Hue so much cheaper than the previous ones.

      • My mistake I read non-smart

  • Do they have cheap Hue HUBS?

  • Worked for me. Wouldn't ship to PO Box.

  • OP price in heading

  • worked for me.. thanks I just got the HUE starter kit for Christmas..
    I ordered 2 x e27 packs and 1 x b22 pack , the b22 pack was backordered but they
    still applied the discount.
    Cheers OP

  • Do you HAVE to use a hub?
I want to use my Google Home to control them. Seems to give conflicting info on the Amazon site. Says google home is compatible but another says must have the hub.

    • Yes as it’s zigbee for the lights to communicate

    • As Asa stated the hubs required. Your phone or other Google device will communicate with the hub and the hub will then pass the commands to the bulbs. Hue bulbs unlike some other players don't use standard WiFi but rather zigbee that your phone wont natively support.

    • Thanks for the replies.
Would it work with any zigbee enabled hub e.g. the Xiaomi Gateway?

    • No, you don’t need the bridge/hub. There is another way to control up to 10 Hue lights and that’s by using the Hue Dimmer control. It’s about $34 if you can find it locally. That will act as a remote control for up to 10 lights, but if you want to use the smartphone app, Siri, Google Home or anything else to control the lights you will need the v2 bridge.

I just wish they sold more of the Hue range in Australia. The US and UK get other globes and lamps that we can’t get here :(

      • That wont work with Google Home

        • I said that in my reply.

Of course it’s better with the bridge, but it can also work (in a far more limited capacity) with the cheaper Diimmer controller.

  • For anyone new to the Hue product, I can confirm I've had excellent results with the JIAWEN E27 9W Smart RGB Bulb, currently $23.94 on Gearbest. They're well made, the light output is excellent and no issues finding them with my Gen1 Hub. Currently have 3 in the house.

  • If anyone wants to get into these, I have 3 spare gen 1 hubs (2 are brand new from starter kits I bought this year). They should be compatible as long as you don't want Homekit. $12 each posted anywhere in Australia.

    • PM'd! :-)

    • I'm under the impressin that Gen 1 Hubs wont work with newer bulbs, or alot of the features dont work with the Lights?

      • As far as I know the main difference is Homekit, but I only have gen 1 Hues and Taps and have switched to a gen 2 hub so I can't say for certain.

    • do you happen to have any left? if so can get one please.

      • Sorry they're all gone.

        • no worries thought they may be

          thanks

  • Thanks. Got six lots, two being B22 and four E27. Came out to about $175 shipped so the additional lot of three came out even cheaper than the initial three. Didn’t look but I assume the shippings reduced when increasing the order.

Along with the existing lights that almost has our house covered. Need to keep an eye out now for a sale on some additional dimmer switches.
