Another vote for mediscan touchless. Have been using it for over two years.surprised that there are negative reviews.
Braun Thermoscan7 in ear thermometer. Terrible reviews on productreview but in my experience accurate consistent and takes readings quickly. Uses consumables (plastic lens filters) but these can be purchased cheaply from overseas on eBay.
Very good thermometer for older people with bigger ears, but a real struggle to get into tiny baby ear canals!
Common sense plus the facility of hand (touch) and eye (sight) are sufficient to judge whether precious is in desperate need of the emergency ward. Otherwise some panadol and rest.
Wow bad advice.
I bought a choice magazine membership for 3 months and they had the Dreambaby Large Display Digital Thermometer F319 and the Omron MC-343 and I'm sure they were the top 2 most accurate thermometers. I purchased Omron MC-343 because it was $10 and the dream baby $25 also because I've seen Omron equipment being used at medical centres as it's a medical device company. It seems to be working fine but I'm no doctor.
